Gwinnett Stripes pitcher Kolby Allard allowed just six hits and one earned run with five strikeouts over seven innings, but the Stripers fell to Lehigh Valley 3-2 on Wednesday night.

ALLENTOWN, Pa. — Kolby Allard had his second straight strong start, but Ali Castillo’s walk-off RBI double lifted the Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs to a 3-2 victory over the Gwinnett Stripers on Wednesday night at Coca-Cola Park.

Kolby Allard allowed six hits and just one run with five strikeouts over seven innings, but did not figure in the decision, even after Travis Demeritte gave the Stripers (35-29) a 2-0 lead with his two-out, two-run double in the top of the fifth.

Lehigh Valley got one run back on Damek Tomscha’s sacrifice fly in the seventh and an RBI double in the bottom of the eighth by Andrew Romine off Shane Carle (3-1) to tie the game at 2-all.

Then in the ninth, former Atlanta and Gwinnett Brave Lane Adams doubled off Carle and came home when Castillo delivered his game-winning hit.

The Stripers try to salvage the series finale Thursday at 7:05 p.m. when right-hander Patrick Weigel (0-0, 3.12 ERA) takes the mound against Lehigh Valley right-hander Tyler Viza.
