SAVANNAH – Allowing three goals within an 11-minute span of the first half was too much for the Georgia Gwinnett College women’s soccer team to overcome in a 3-1 setback at SCAD Savannah on Saturday afternoon.

The Bees (5-3) tallied goals in the 25th, 28th and 36th minutes after GGC (6-4) had taken a 1-0 advantage.

Sophomore Kyara Armenta scored her third goal of the season in the 17th minute to give the Grizzlies the early lead. Armenta’s initial shot was blocked following a corner kick. But the forward stayed with the play near the opposing goal to tally the opening tally of the match.

SCAD Savannah’s Sydney Chura squared the match on a counter after a GGC corner kick. Unassisted goals by Ines Sommer and Abigail Siddall capped the scoring for the Bees.

SCAD Savannah outshot the Grizzlies by an 11-9 margin, including an 8-2 edge in shots on goal.
