Brookwood grad Brock Baughcum has been hired as infield coach of the Souris Valley Sabre Dogs, a North Dakota baseball team that plays in the Expedition League.
Baughcum, a senior at Emmanuel College, played for the Sabre Dogs last year. He has a .361 batting average with 23 stolen bases for Emmanuel this season.
“Brock was a grinder on the field for us in 2018,” Sabre Dogs head coach Corey Thompson said. “His great attitude made it easy for me to welcome him on the coaching staff. Brock will do a lot of different things for us as a coach, but the big one will be working with guys on stolen bases.”
Baughcum was an elite baserunner in his time as a Sabre Dog. He was second in the league in stolen bases last year with 43, one off the lead. He also was second on the team in batting average (.357) among hitters with 200 or more at-bats and led the team in hits with 87.
