James "Jim" Williams
Williams - James "Jim" Williams age 91 of Dacula, passed away on Saturday, February 23, 2019. A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, March 2, 2019 in the Lawrenceville Chapel of Tim Stewart Funeral Home, with Rev. Derrick Spain officiating. Interment will follow at Gwinnett Memorial Park. Jim was the former owner of J&L Auto Service. Jim played the steel guitar professionally in the 40's and is a member of the Georgia Country Music Hall of Fame; past President of the Georgia Cutting Horse Association; and he enjoyed traveling across the country with his wife and grandchildren. He was loved and well respected in the community. He was a member of Hebron Baptist Church in Dacula. He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Louise Benson Williams in 2011, daughter, Janis Smith in 2012, and grandson, Matthew Henderson in 2003. Jim is survived by his daughter & son-in-law, Susan & Tom Henderson, El Prado, NM; son-in-law, Art Smith, Dacula, GA; grandchildren, Kevin & Katya Smith, Signal Mountain, TN; Erin & Wayne Lauritzen, Georgetown, TX; Allison Smith, Atlanta, GA; great grandchildren, Hannah Lauritzen; Olivia Smith; Kendall Lauritzen; Reed Smith. The family will receive friends 5:00 to 8:00 PM, Friday, March 1, 2019 at Tim Stewart Funeral Home, 300 Simonton Road, S.W., Lawrenceville, GA 30046. 770-962-3100.
