The Gwinnett County Board of Education appointed Martina Luna-Liranzo as the new principal of Beaver Ridge Elementary School at Thursday’s board meeting.

The Rock Springs Elementary School assistant principal will assume the position of current Beaver Ridge principal Karen Lillard, who will take over as principal at Brookwood Elementary School next school year.

Luna-Liranzo has worked in Gwinnett County Public Schools since 2008 as a teacher at Rosebud Elementary School. She has served as an assistant principal since 2014, first at Shiloh Elementary School before taking her current position at Rock Springs in 2018.

Luna-Liranzo has a degree in sociology from Columbia University and a master’s degree in marketing from the Keller Graduate School of Management. She received her specialist’s degree in educational administration and policy from the University of Georgia.

Taylor Denman is a reporter born and raised in Gwinnett County. He came back home to seize the rare opportunity of telling stories in the county he grew up in.
