A total of 116 former Gwinnett players will compete in college football bowl games this season, including 11 in the College Football Playoff semifinals. Of the 42 bowl games, 34 will feature at least one Gwinnett grad.

He played previously at LSU and Holmes Community College (Miss.). His success hinges on an offensive line led by North Gwinnett grad Sean Maginn (No. 79), a redshirt senior who has made 46 career starts. Maginn was a second-team All-ACC selection this season after earning third-team honors last season.
The Wake defense features Shiloh grad Jasheen Davis (No. 30), a sophomore defensive lineman who earned honorable mention All-ACC acclaim. Davis has started the last four games and has posted 33 tackles (14 for losses), seven sacks, four quarterback hurries, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery. Teammate Quincy Bryant (No. 26), a redshirt freshman linebacker from Parkview, has made 20 tackles. Snellville resident Zach Ranson (No. 34) is a linebacker who played at St. Pius.
Collins Hill grad Sam Horn (No. 21) is a freshman quarterback for Missouri.
Local interest: Middle Tennessee’s roster includes two redshirt freshmen from Buford, H-back Caden Williams (No. 48) and long snapper Carson Garrison (No. 68).
Local interest: Norcross grad Christian Sims (No. 88) is a senior tight end for Bowling Green who earned second-team All-MAC honors this season. He has 41 catches for 402 yards and two touchdowns.
The roster also includes Meadowcreek grad Darius Gaddy (No. 79), a 6-foot-9, 330-pound, redshirt freshman offensive tackle. He spent a post-grad year at Southwest Ohio Preparatory Academy.
Local interest: Greater Atlanta Christian grad Tyler Bride (No. 4) is a key member of the Georgia Southern secondary. The junior cornerback has 36 tackles (three for losses), two interceptions, eight pass breakups and one fumble recovery.
The Georgia Southern roster also includes South Gwinnett grad Jailen Barber (No. 24), a freshman defensive back, Meadowcreek grad Quincy Bonner (No. 25), a redshirt freshman defensive back, Shiloh grad Justin Howell (No. 36), a redshirt junior wide receiver and Grayson grad Javian Boykin (No. 49), a redshirt junior linebacker.
Buffalo’s lone Gwinnett grad is Grayson’s Jibrahn Claude (No. 32), a redshirt freshman safety.
Local interest: Memphis’ roster includes defensive lineman Warren Peeples (No. 7), a redshirt sophomore from South Gwinnett via Highlands Community College, and Lanier grad Kris Burress (No. 37), a freshman defensive back.
Local interest: Parkview grad Jared Brown (No. 14), who has split time at wide receiver and running back for Coastal Carolina, was named recently as the Sun Belt Conference Freshman of the Year. He has 42 catches for 709 yards (16.9 per catch) and five touchdowns, all more than 50 yards. He has rushed 20 times for 187 yards and a TD.
Three of his teammates are Gwinnett grads — Collins Hill’s Charles Steele (No. 32), a redshirt sophomore bandit, and Brookwood’s Justin Scola (No. 47), a redshirt senior bandit, on the defense, as well as redshirt sophomore offensive lineman Tyler Wagner (No. 78) of Parkview.
East Carolina wide receiver Jaylen Johnson (No. 1), a transfer from Georgia, is a Peachtree Ridge grad. The 6-foot-2, 197-pounder has 21 catches for 247 yards and three TDs. Teammate

Local interest: Three Gwinnett grads are linemen at Central Florida, including offensive linemen Cameron Kinnie (No. 54), a redshirt sophomore, and John Harris (No. 57), a redshirt senior. Kinnie, a Collins Hill grad, began his career at Georgia, and Harris, a Mill Creek grad, began his career at Virginia Tech.
Buford grad Matthew Alexander (No. 56), a redshirt freshman, has played 12 games on the Central Florida defensive line.
Mill Creek grad Shaka Heyward (No. 42), a redshirt senior linebacker, is Duke’s leading tackler with 93 (six for losses), along with two sacks, two interceptions, six pass breakups and two fumble recoveries. He earned All-ACC honorable mention honors.
The Blue Devils’ roster also includes Buford grads Ahmad Craig (No. 91), a redshirt junior defensive end, and Dawson Andrew (No. 33), a freshman defensive back.

North Gwinnett grad Cade Fortin (No. 10) is a redshirt senior quarterback at Arkansas who is 14 of 29 passing for 136 yards and a touchdown in spot duty this season. Fortin is on his third college after spending two years at North Carolina and two years at South Florida.
Local interest: North Carolina has three Gwinnett grads at wide receiver — junior Josh Downs (No. 11) of North Gwinnett, redshirt freshman Brooks Miller (No. 20) of Greater Atlanta Christian and junior Jeffrey Saturday (No. 29) of Hebron Christian. Downs is one of the Tar Heels’ stars, earning All-ACC second-team honors at both wide receiver and all-purpose player (he averages 14.9 yards on punt returns) this season.
Downs is among the nation’s leading receivers with 94 catches for 1,029 yards and 11 touchdowns. He had 101 catches for 1,335 yards and eight TDs last season.
GAC grad Will Hardy (No. 31) is a contributor in the UNC secondary as a true freshman with 33 tackles, one interception, one fumble recovery and one forced fumble.
The Tar Heels’ roster also includes senior defensive lineman Tomari Fox (No. 56), a Collins Hill grad who is sitting out this season.
Local interest: After transferring from Georgia Tech, North Gwinnett grad Jared Ivey (No. 15), a junior defensive end, has jumped into a key role at Ole Miss. He had 34 tackles (4 1/2 for losses), 3 1/2 sacks, three quarterback hurries, one fumble recovery and one forced fumble this season. Fellow defensive end J.J. Hawkins (No. 92), a freshman from Discovery, has five tackles and a sack.
Buford grad Reece McIntyre (No. 56) is a reserve offensive lineman and special teams contributor for the Rebels. The roster also includes freshman safety Zach Johansen (No. 40).
Local interest: South Gwinnett grad Terell Smith (No. 4) is in his fifth season at Minnesota. The 6-foot-1, 215-pounder earned honorable mention All-Big Ten honors this season after making 38 tackles (34 solos, 4 1/2 for losses), two sacks, two interceptions and five pass breakups this season. He has made 107 tackles in 46 career games.
Local interest: Oklahoma cornerback Trey Morrison (No. 6) is a graduate transfer from North Carolina in his fifth college season. He played in 49 games with 44 starts from 2018-21 at UNC, totaling 136 tackles (14 for losses) and eight sacks. He has 32 tackles (three for losses) this season.
The roster also included offensive tackle Wanya Morris, a Tennessee transfer, until the Sooners’ starting offensive tackle declared for the NFL Draft and opted out of the Cheez-It Bowl.
Florida State’s defense features two veteran players from Gwinnett, redshirt seniors Leonard Warner (No. 35), a Brookwood grad and defensive end, and Robert Cooper (No. 91), a defensive tackle from South Gwinnett. Cooper, a top run-stopper, earned honorable mention All-ACC honors this season after making 16 tackles, and Warner had 20 tackles (two for losses) and 1 1/2 sacks.
The Seminoles also boast Wesleyan grad Vance Nicklaus (No. 39), a redshirt freshman tight end.

Local interest: Parkview grad Jack Chambers (No. 14) is a quarterback for N.C. State after joining the Wolfpack in May as a graduate transfer from Charleston Southern, where he was a two-time team captain and an All-Big South Conference player. He threw for 5,761 yards and 40 touchdowns at Charleston Southern. He has seen action in nine games this season at N.C. State, completing 32 of 64 passes for 252 yards and a TD and rushing 43 times for 164 yards and a TD — most of his work came against Syracuse when he was 18 of 30 passing for 160 yards and rushed 19 times for 58 yards.
N.C. State’s roster also includes reserve offensive guard Sean Hill (No. 72), a redshirt freshman from Brookwood, defensive back Christopher Scott Jr. (No. 35), a redshirt freshman from Dacula, and Wesleyan grad Brooks Sturgeon (No. 96), a freshman kicker.
Local interest: Dacula grad Konata Mumpfield (No. 14), a sophomore transfer from Akron, has made an immediate impact at Pitt with 51 catches for 473 yards and a touchdown. The Panthers have one other Gwinnett grad on the roster — Buford’s Ryland Gandy (No. 18), a freshman defensive back.
Greater Atlanta Christian grad Choe Bryant-Strother (No. 9) is a redshirt sophomore linebacker at UCLA. He has 19 tackles in 12 games this season with a season-high seven stops against Utah.
Local interest: Tennessee’s roster features four Gwinnett grads, including seniors Grant Frerking (No. 0) of Wesleyan and Warren Burrell (No. 4) of North Gwinnett. Frerking is a receiver and Burrell is a defensive back.
They are joined by freshmen Addison Nichols (No. 72), an offensive lineman from Greater Atlanta Christian, and Peachtree Ridge grad Amari McNeill (No. 88), a defensive lineman.
Clemson’s defense has three Gwinnett grads who have started games this season, including two of the unit’s top tacklers, senior safety Jalyn Phillips (No. 25) of Archer and sophomore linebacker Barrett Carter (No. 0) of North Gwinnett. Phillips has 68 tackles, one interception, three pass breakups and one fumble recovery, while Carter has 65 tackles (fourth on team), 9 1/2 tackles for losses, 4 1/2 sacks, six pass breakups, two interceptions, six quarterback hurries and two forced fumbles. Teammate Justin Mascoll (No. 7), a senior from South Gwinnett, is a part-time starter at defensive end who has 18 tackles (3 1/2 for losses).
Grayson grad Phil Mafah (No. 26) is a sophomore running back on the Clemson offense. He has 91 carries for 476 yards and four touchdowns this season, as well as eight catches for 47 yards.
Local interest: Alabama has a pipeline to Buford with three current Wolves on the roster, headlined by junior Seth McLaughlin (No. 56), who starts on the Tide’s offensive line. Freshman wide receiver Isaiah Bond (No. 17) has 16 catches for 214 yards and is one of nine Tide receivers who have reached double figures in catches. Bond is part of a freshman class that also includes fellow Buford grad Jake Pope (No. 21), a defensive back who hasn’t played this season.
In the Sugar Bowl, those former Wolves will reunite with another Buford grad, Kansas State freshman safety V.J. Payne (No. 19). Payne has 17 tackles (12 solos), including eight (seven solos) in the regular-season finale with Kansas and four stops (three solos) in the Big 12 Championship Game against TCU.

Local interest: Four former Gwinnett standouts play for Michigan, including senior D.J. Turner (No. 5), a defensive back who played at North Gwinnett before transferring to IMG Academy (Fla.) to finish his prep career. Turner, a two-time All-Big Ten Conference selection, has 33 tackles, one inteception and 10 pass breakups as a starter in the secondary this season.
Senior teammate Trente Jones (No. 53), a Grayson grad, has played in 22 games with eight starts in his career, including nine games and six starts this year. He saw snaps at right tackle and as a sixth offensive lineman in the Big Ten Championship Game.
Two other Gwinnett grads — Dacula’s Jalen Perry (No. 31) and Wesleyan’s Zach Peterson (No. 25) — are special teams contributors. Perry is a defensive back, and Peterson, a graduate transfer from Furman (where he played from 2018-21), is a wide receiver.

North Gwinnett grad Payne Walker (No. 47), a senior, fills a vital role as the starting long snapper for field goals and extra points. Fellow North grad Warren Ericson (No. 50), also a senior, is a reserve offensive lineman who has made 17 career starts (14 in 2021).
Senior Robert Beal (No. 33) has 22 tackles (two for losses), two sacks and 18 quarterback hurries from his outside linebacker spot. Beal played at Norcross until playing his senior season at IMG Academy (Fla.), then he graduated from Peachtree Ridge.
Central Gwinnett grad Mekhi Mews (No. 87) has seen action in three games with two catches as a reserve wide receiver. He also is on the depth chart as one of four punt returners. Providence Christian grad Samuel Johnson (No. 49), a redshirt sophomore tight end, and Grayson grad Griffin Scroggs (No. 72), a true freshman offensive lineman, have not played this season.
Ohio State’s secondary features cornerback Jordan Hancock (No. 7), a North Gwinnett grad who has played in 13 games over first two college seasons. He has played in six games with one start this season after missing the first seven games with a hamstring injury.
Local interest: Mississippi State’s roster features freshman running back Brinston Williams (No. 28) of North Gwinnett. Central Gwinnett grad Khmari Thompson (No. 4), a transfer from Missouri, is in the wide receiver rotation for Illinois.
Local interest: North Gwinnett grad Everett Garard (No. 31) is a redshirt freshman cornerback for LSU.
Peachtree Ridge grad Payne Durham (No. 87), a tight end for Purdue, was a second-team All-Big Ten Conference selection and a semifinals for the Mackey Award, given to the nation’s top tight end, this season. The 6-foot-5, 255-pounder, an NFL prospect who has accepted an invitation to the East-West Shrine Bowl, has 56 catches for 560 yards and eight touchdowns this season and 21 career TD catches.
Purdue also features North Gwinnett grad Jordan Buchanan (No. 19), a freshman cornerback.
Local interest: Providence Christian grad Jordan van den Berg (No. 52) is a redshirt freshman defensive lineman for Penn State. The Johannesburg, South Africa native played at Iowa Western Community College, where he was a first-team All-American in 2021, before signing with Penn State. He has played in 12 games this season with eight tackles and a sack against Auburn.
