Code Ninjas in Hamilton Mill held a customer appreciation day on June 30 to mark the one-year anniversary of the franchise's first Gwinnett County location and also introduce the new Suwanee location set to open on Aug. 3.

Code Ninjas is an academy where kids can learn the basics of building video games and computer programs. Kids also learn math, logic, problem solving and other critical thinking skills that could tip their interests in technology.

At the June 30 event, kids played video games such as Minecraft and others on the game creation platform Roblox, battled with robotic rhino beetles, learned to make circuits through snap-in grids and competed in a Rubik's Cube contest.

"I never realized what kind of impact we could have," Code Ninjas owner Dale Thomas said.
