The city of Sugar Hill announced it is partnering with U.S. Space & Rocket Center in Huntsville, Alabama, on a Global Rocket Launch to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Apollo 11 mission to the moon.

The city of Sugar Hill announced it is partnering with U.S. Space & Rocket Center in Huntsville, Alabama, on a Global Rocket Launch to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Apollo 11 mission to the moon.

On July 16, the city of Sugar Hill will join other organizations and individuals in launching model rockets in honor of the mission in which Commander Neil Armstrong took his “one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.”

Sugar Hill will host a community rocket building workshop and participants will be able to launch their rockets on July 16.

The Eagle Theatre will present the new film “Apollo 11” at 3 p.m. The movie will be free for those that participate in the rocket launch and $2 for all others.

For the Global Rocket Launch, participants are encouraged to share photos and videos of their experience with the world by including #GlobalRocketLaunch on Twitter, Instagram and YouTube.
