Gwinnett police have identified 20-year-old Christina Day as the woman who was kidnapped from a Peachtree Corners hotel early Wednesday morning.

Around 2:10 a.m., police responded to the Crossland Economy Studios off Jimmy Carter Boulevard after receiving reports of a carjacking, according to Sgt. Jake Smith, a spokesman for the department.

There, they encountered a male victim, who said a man came to his and Day’s door with a gun and demanded personal items and his car keys.

After taking the items, the victim told police that the suspect “removed the female victim from the room at gunpoint” and left with Day in the male victim’s car, Smith said.

The victim then ran to a nearby Waffle House and called police.

On Wednesday, authorities put a lookout to neighboring jurisdictions for the car, which was later spotted and recovered in Chamblee. The victim and suspect were already gone when police arrived.

Detectives are combing the car for clues, including fingerprints, in the hopes of identifying the gunman.

Police told FOX 5 that it’s possible Day knows the suspect, but they do believe this is a legitimate abduction and don’t think she was in on the crime.

Investigators also said the male victim and Day knew each other for about a week.

Detectives are treating the case as a kidnapping and an investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call Gwinnett Police at 770-513-5700 and anyone who encounters Day or the suspect should call 911.

To remain anonymous, tipsters can contact Crime Stoppers at 404-577-TIPS (8477) or visit crimestoppersatlanta.org. Tipsters can receive up to $2,000 for information leading to an arrest and indictment in this case by referencing case number 18-010027.
