A 38-year-old Monroe woman died early Sunday morning and two others are in critical condition following a two-car wreck outside the Kroger on Athens Highway in Loganville.

Gwinnett County Police Department officers responded to the grocery store, which is near Rosebud Road, at about 7 a.m. after receiving 911 calls about the accident, officials said.

According to police, the at-fault vehicle, in which Rochelle Vinson was a passenger, was traveling westbound on Athens Highway and tried to turn left across traffic into the Kroger parking lot.

Another car was traveling straight in the eastbound lanes and the vehicles collided.

Vinson died at the scene, while the alleged at-fault driver and the driver of the other vehicle were both transported to the hospital with serious injuries.

Currently, the alleged at-fault driver is in critical condition.

Police said speed and alcohol are both being investigated as possible contributing factors in the accident.

Athens Highway eastbound was closed for about two and a half hours during the initial investigation. The Gwinnett County Police Department’s Accident Investigation Unit will continue to investigate.
