Man wanted on battery, cruelty to children charges arrested

The Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office announced a man on its Wanted in Gwinnett list was recently arrested in DeKalb County.

Lekendrick Antoine Chestnutt, who is listed in jail records as having addresses in Lawrenceville and Decatur, was arrested on July 19. He is facing three charges of cruelty to children in the third degree and a battery charge.

Chestnutt is accussed of hitting Mariaka Denise Delbridge at an apartment in Lawrenceville on the evening of Feb. 7, according to a warrant for his arrest. He allegedly pushed through a bedroom door Delbridge was trying to close and is accussed of punching her in the face in front of children at the home. He had been on the wanted list since then.

Jail records show records show bond was set at a cumulative amount of $5,200. He was released on bond the day after he was arrested.

This was not Chestnutt’s first stint in the Gwinnett County Jail. Records show he was previously booked in the jail five times between November 2012 and May 2014.

The charges for those previous arrests included DUI, driving on a suspended or revoked license, a probation violations and violations of laws about open containers for drivers, required tag lights and obtaining a license with 30 days of moving to an area.
