A 70-year-old Lilburn man died Monday morning after being thrown from his motorcycle and hit by a car while lying in the road.

Around 1 a.m., Miguel Maldonado-Lemus was driving a black motorcycle on Singleton Road near Thompson Parkway in unincorporated Norcross when he tried to make a right turn onto Singleton Road from a private drive, police said.

Maldonado-Lemus turned in front of a gray Toyota Corolla, causing the two vehicles to collide. Due to the impact, Maldonado-Lemus was thrown off the motorcycle and landed in the westbound lanes of Singleton Road, police said.

While Maldonado-Lemus was in the lying in the roadway, he was hit by a gray Nissan Sentra traveling westbound on Singleton Road. He died from his injuries.

Neither of the other drivers were injured, and both stayed at the scene until police arrived.

All three vehicles were taken to Gwinnett County Police Department headquarters for analysis by the department’s Accident Investigation Unit.
