Gwinnett County Public Schools will begin holding area board meetings around the county during the upcoming week.

The area meetings, with one meeting set to be held in each school board district, will begin Tuesday with the District V meeting. The school system described the meetings as a chance for parents to see the school board and Superintendent J. Alvin Wilbanks in their backyards.

“The meetings are a time for the school board to share information with the public,” district officials said in a statement. “They also are an opportunity to hear CEO/Superintendent J. Alvin Wilbanks’ annual address on the state of the school district, focusing on the district’s strategic direction and recent successes.”

The District V area board meeting on Tuesday will take place at Meadowcreek High School, which is located at 4455 Steve Reynolds Boulevard in Norcross. The meeting will be preceded by a reception at 6:15 p.m. and the actual meeting will start at 7 p.m.

District V includes the Berkmar, Discovery and Meadowcreek clusters as well as the International Transition Center, Maxwell High School of Technology and the Gwinnett School of Mathematics, Science, and Technology.

Parents and school system employees will be able to submit questions to district leaders via a mobile website available at the meetings on smart phones, tablets or laptop computers during the meetings.

Just like the District V meeting, all other area board meetings will also be preceded by a reception at 6:15 p.m. on their respective dates. Each area meeting will be held in the theater of the host school.
