Gwinnett County police said they’ve tracked down a suspect related to a string of crimes against Asian business owners in the metro Atlanta area.

Police have charged Emmanuel Rakestraw with armed robbery, aggravated assault and first-degree burglary with attempt to commit theft for an incident on May 26 in Snellville in which a businessman was followed home, assaulted, robbed and burglarized.

Rakestraw is also under investigation for criminal street gang activity, police said. The Gwinnett County Police Department’s SWAT team served the arrest warrant on Wednesday in Lithonia, and Rakestraw was taken into custody without incident.

Police said they are still investigating leads and tips into possible accomplices and similar cases in Gwinnett.

”GCPD will continue to investigate these crimes, consult and work with affected agencies in the Metro area, and prosecute those responsible,” a news release said.

Since March, Gwinnett police said they have received nine reports of crimes against Asian business owners in the Gwinnett. Other non-Gwinnett agencies, too, have received reports, the department said.

Rakestraw remains at the Gwinnett County Jail without bond.
