The Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office is hosting a career expo on Saturday for the community to learn about “the many opportunities (the agency) offers to people interested in law enforcement or administrative careers.”

The expo, which will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Gwinnett County Jail — located at 2900 University Parkway in Lawrenceville — will offer applicants the opportunity to complete a large portion of hiring procedures on site.

Applicants will also be assigned a background investigator at the event, which expedites the hiring process. Gwinnett County Human Resources staff will also be on site to screen applicants for both civilian and sworn positions with the sheriff’s office.

While walk-ins are welcome, the sheriff’s office “strongly” recommends that applicants pre-register at gwinnettsheriffjobs.com to begin the required paperwork. All applicants must bring one form of identification with them.

Qualified, pre-registered applicants will be provided a facility tour and panel interview at the career expo and may receive a conditional job offer the same day.

The starting salary range for a deputy sheriff jailer is $36,451-$41,791, depending on the candidate’s experience and/or level of education. The starting salary range for a deputy sheriff senior is $41,538-$53,569, based on the candidate’s prior law enforcement experience and/or level of education.

For more information about the sheriff’s office hiring process or employment opportunities, contact the agency’s Professional Standards Unit at 770-822-3134.
