If you have listened to the radio in the last 30 years, you may be a fan of songwriter, producer and composer Steve Dorff and not even know it.
“You may not know my name, but you’ve heard my songs,” Dorff said in a news release.
Dorff is known for creating music for a diverse selection of media including major motion pictures, television, theater and hit songs. Dorff has penned nine No. 1 film songs and 15 top ten hits, such as “Through the Years,” sung by Kenny Rogers, and “I Just Fall In Love Again,” which was sung by Anne Murray and achieved Billboard’s No. 1 Song Of The Year in 1979.
His songs have been sung by some of the most popular artists in recent times including Barbra Streisand, Celine Dion, Whitney Jouston, George Strait, Vanessa Williams and many more.
Dorff will take the stage at the Red Clay Music Foundry on Friday, Jan. 29 to share the stories behind some of these hits. He is a UGA alumnus and lives in Los Angeles, but Eddie Owen Presents will bring this musical talent back to his Georgia roots.
Dorff’s songs have attained Billboard No. 1 staus a total of 11 times. He is a three-time Grammy nominee, a six-time Emmy nominee for television compositions and an NSAI songwriter of the year.
New songs and scores written and produced by Dorff are still being released, and he is also working on music for several theater performances.
During Friday’s concert, the musician will be joined on stage by Norwood, who has previously recorded with Dorff, and the two will perform together for a few songs.
Norwood is a Gwinnett resident and an up-and-comer in the Atlanta music scene. He has performed at the Macy’s Tree Lighting and the Atlanta Peach Drop, and has released several singles.
Doors to the performance will open at 7 p.m., and the show will begin at 8 p.m. Tickets are available for advance purchase at $25 for general reserved seats and $30 for premium reserved seats. The Red Clay Music Foundry is located at 3116 Main Street in Duluth.
