Author Lee Gaitan is celebrating her latest work “Lite Whines and Laughter: Mild Rants and Musings on the Mundane” at her book launch party at Boulder Creek Coffee from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday.
“Lite Whines and Laughter,” the third book by Gaitan, follows her Amazon best-seller “My Pineapples Went to Houston: Finding the Humor in My Dashed Hopes, Broken Dreams and Plans Gone Outrageously Awry,” released in 2013.
Gaitan wants “Lite Whines and Laughter” to remind readers to laugh even in dark moments and shine a light when things all around seem to be getting bleaker.
“Our modern world is bombarded daily with issues of nearly incomprehensible gravity and the stress is overwhelming,” she said. “Finding a moment or two of lightness and laughter is critically important to our mental health. I hope this book helps readers do that.”
A theme in her work is battling obstacles and not shying away from sharing difficult times overcome by using comedy and humor.
“I have always taken humor very seriously,” Gaitan said. “My sense of humor has been a constant in my life, enhancing the good times and mitigating the bad ones—and I’ve had my share of bad, or challenging, times. During what I refer to as my decade of ‘shock and awfulness,’ I hit the trifecta of death, divorce and destitution, and I credit my ability to still find humor — though a bit dark at times — to helping me survive and eventually thrive again.”
Gaitan’s book “Lite Whines and Laughter” can be purchased on Amazon.
