When Misty Duren, and her husband, Lamar, decided to pay tribute to “American Sniper” Chris Kyle with their seven-acre corn maze, they expected it to draw attention— just not on the national level.

“I never expected it to go national, but I’m glad that it did,” Misty Duren said.

The Loganville corn maze annually receives coverage from local news outlets for its themed-mazes paying tribute to public figures, but this year Duren also made an appearance on “FOX and Friends.” She said it’s been great to share the tribute to Kyle and those serving in the armed forces with such a large audience.

Kyle was a U.S. Navy SEAL sniper with more than 160 officially confirmed kills during his four tours in Iraq. The movie “American Sniper,” based on Kyle’s best-selling book of the same name, directed by Clint Eastwood and starring Bradley Cooper, was released in January.

On Wednesday, Corn Dawgs will welcome Kyle’s wife, Taya, who is making a special appearance at the Loganville corn maze to sign copies of her book “The American Wife.” Duren said she’s excited about Kyle’s visit and it’s a honor to have her come to Corn Dawgs.

“Chris was a true American hero,” Duren said. “His wife Taya continues his service, acting as an advocate for women and those who have lost family members while serving our country.”

Kyle will appear from 5:30 to 8 p.m., and anyone who purchases a book during the event will be able to meet Kyle and have their book signed. All profits will benefit The Chris Kyle Frog Foundation, a nonprofit aimed at supporting families of service members and providing military couples with one-on-one time after deployment.

Corn Dawgs Corn Maze and Pumpkin Patch will open at 5 p.m.; general admission is $12, and the cost for “The American Wife” book with a general admission ticket is $30. Corn Dawgs is located at 955 Highway 81 South in Loganville. For more information, visit www.corndawgs.com.
