WILL'S WORLD: Local interest at Tech women's game Thursday

If you haven't gone to a Georgia Tech basketball game this season at the Arena at Gwinnett Center, Thursday would be a good time as far as local interest goes.

The Yellow Jackets host a women's game against Wake Forest in their Duluth home away from home, which also is a homecoming game for a trio of Wake players.

Duluth grad Mykala Walker is returning to her hometown as a Demon Deacon starter, so hopefully a big back of Duluth fans will be there to support her. Walker played in the Arena at Gwinnett Center as a high-schooler when the Wildcats made the state Final Four her junior season.

Her Wake teammate, Erin Hall, earned 13 varsity letters down the road as a high-schooler at Wesleyan. A key reserve and 3-point shooter for Wake, she was a fan favorite at Wesleyan who should draw a good pack of supporters, too.

The same can be said for Wake's Dearica Hamby, even though she played just one season at Norcross. The athletic 6-foot-3 freshman sees considerable action and returns to the Arena at Gwinnett Center court for the first time since her Norcross team won the Class AAAAA state title there last March.

If you don't have plans Thursday, come out and support these three Gwinnett products. Tipoff is at 7 p.m.
