February 15, 2013
It’s that time of year again. Time to decide what the best movie of 2012 was.
This year there are nine nominees for best picture. I have been off my game this year as I have only seen two of the nine. I have seen “Silver Linings Playbook” (great!) and “Django Unchained” (good but too long). Netflix is going to help me out this weekend as I am going to watch “Beasts of the Southern Wild” and “Argo” comes out on DVD on Tuesday. So that will be four. That leaves me a little more than a week to see the other five. That might be a little tough for me so we’ll see how many I get to.
One of the best ways to knock them out has always been the Best Picture Showcase at Colonial 18 in Lawrenceville. This year AMC is breaking the showcase up into two Saturdays. This Saturday, you can see “Amour,” “Les Miserables,” “Argo” and “Django Unchained” for $30 and next Saturday, you can see “Beasts of the Southern Wild,” “Life of Pi,” “Lincoln,” “Silver Linings Playbook” and “Zero Dark Thirty” for $40. If you wanted to go both days, can buy a two-day pass for 60 bucks.
Sadly, this year I have plans for those Saturdays or I would totally go. The showcase is always really fun and you get to see some really good movies for a pretty good price.
Next week I’ll bring you my Oscar predictions after I have seen a few more movies, but if you’ll excuse me, I need to check some movie times.
