THAT'S ENTERTAINMENT: A little Halloween music

Happy Halloween everyone! Since I have already shared what my favorite scary movies are, today I thought I would share my Halloween playlist. This is what I listen to as I sweep off the driveway, make sure all the outside lights are working, carve my pumpkin and give out fun-sized candy bars to kids. Hope you enjoy.

"Monster Mash" — Bobby (Boris) Pickett and the Crypt-Kickers Let’s get this playlist started with the official song of Halloween. You can’t have Halloween without this song.

"Werewolves in London" — Warren Zevon Best song about werewolves. Werewolves who like Chinese food.

"I Put a Spell on You" — Screamin’ Jay Hawkins CCR does a version of this that I like but this is the original and is the best.

"Season of the Witch" — Donovan Speaking of spells, I love this song so much. It has seen some resurgence in movies and movie trailers lately and I’m OK with that.

"Jump in the Line" — Harry Belafonte I know this really isn’t a Halloween song, but I can’t hear it without picturing “Beetlejuice.” And “Beetlejuice” is actually on my TV right now as I write this blog. It is the Day O scene (also Harry Belafonte). Man, “Beetl— err I this movie is such a great movie. Whoa that was a close one.

"Psycho Killer" — The Talking Heads I love the David Byrne and The Talking Heads, so this was a no-brainer to add this one. Better run, run, run, run, run away.

"Ghostbusters" — Ray Parker Jr. This was one of the first movies I saw in theaters that wasn't a cartoon. And one of my most favorite movies ever. This theme song was huge. Heck my 4-year-old niece even knows the words now almost 30 years later. I ain’t afraid of no ghost!

"Living Dead Girl" — Rob Zombie This man knows Halloween. His “Dragula” is also pretty awesome. He also has directed a bunch of scary movies. “House of 1,000 Corpses,” “Devil’s Rejects,” and the “Halloween” remakes errr reboots.

"Dead Man’s Party" — Oingo Boingo Speaking of zombies … I love this song and love that I get to hear it a lot during October. It was featured in “Back to School.” Oh and Oingo Boingo’s lead singer … Danny Elfman

"Thriller" — Michael Jackson No Halloween playlist would be complete without this song. This is the short one because 13 minutes of Thriller is a bit much.

"This is Halloween" — The Citizens of Halloween Town The best Halloween song ever!!! I dare you not to hum this later after hearing it today. Written and composed by … Danny Elfman. (See Dead Man’s Party) for Tim Burton’s “The Nightmare Before Christmas.”

There you have it, a little Halloween music to get you in the mood today. Happy haunting!
