THAT'S ENTERTAINMENT: Going commercial

So the Super Bowl is upon us and like most of us in the South, I really don't care who wins this one.

I hope it is a good game, but I'm not watching the Super Bowl for football, I'm watching it for the commercials.

I normally try to avoid commercials (thank you inventor of the DVR) but I make an exception for the Super Bowl. That is when companies make an effort to please me with their commercials and I appreciate it. I couldn't tell you who won the 1995 Super Bowl but I still remember the Budweiser Frogs commercial.

So without further ado here are some of my favorite Super Bowl commercials and some sneak peeks at two early contenders for my favorite from this year.

“1984” Apple – 1984 (the granddaddy of them all)

“The Showdown” McDonald's -- 1993

Budweiser Frogs – 1995

“Terry Tate Office Linebacker” Reebock – 2003

Budweiser Clydesdales -- 2008

“The Man Your Man Could Smell Like” Old Spice – 2010

“The Force” Volkswagen – 2011

And now for the new ones

“The Dog Strikes Back” Volkswagen – 2012

“Matthew's Day Off” Honda – 2012

What are your favorite Super Bowl ads?
