Gwinnett extended Care Center Seniors raise $1000 for Heart Health. The Gwinnett Extended care center hosted its 2nd annual fundraiser “Hoops For The Heart” to help in the fight against heart disease. Especially in women of their age group.
55 out of 89 residents came out fighting dressed in red and mostly in wheelchairs. Each resident had a chance to throw five baskets in which sponsors, family and staff payed 1.00 for each successful basket made. One of our special sponsors Healthfield Home Health matched the proceeds. Some of the other sponsors were United Home Health, Select Medical and Crossroads Hospice.
The contest winners Dorothy Carter, Mary Catherine Johnson and Kathleen Wilson were treated to free haircuts and gifts cards to Walmart. They each made all five baskets from wheelchairs without breaking a sweat.
Every cent will go to the Strickland Heart Center and to heart services. That makes us very proud because even though we’re old doesn’t mean we’re finished says Annie Carter giving to the community feels good ! I was born and raise in Lawrenceville !
Looking out our bedrooms windows across the road at the Heart Center is a nice reminder that we had a part of making people well says Jean Langford.
