cargendeli, this is beyond sad. It is OUTRAGEOUS.
By and large, most public employees do not need to be under contract. They should be treated as "at will" employees like the rest of us.
A year's severance simply cannot be justified under these circumstances.
One of the things that impressed me most was that even after he lost the election, he still held regular meetings so that constituents could meet with him in person. No other Commissioner held as many open meetings. He always personally responded to my inquiries.
Tony Powell is an excellent attorney. Snellville should be pleased to have an attorney of his caliber who is willing to represent it. The Mayor is out of line. Her behavior is giving the City a bad name and worse, exposing the City to liability because of her actions.
While he was not my Commissioner, Mike was always responsive to our requests. I don't recall any other commissioners holding advertised open meetings for constituents.
While obviously some folks don't agree with his positions, he was consistent in his beliefs and, I believe, voted in a way that was in the best interest of the county. He appeared to be sincere in his desire to hold the line on spending,
I hope that Mr. Hunter will do well.
Thanks for serving, Mike and good luck to you.
When I learned of this yesterday, I was shocked, disappointed and then angry, in that order. This confirms that there was/is a culture of corruption in Gwinnett. The simple truth is that all that is required for evil to flourish is for good men and women to do nothing. I will no longer tolerate it.
According to published reports, this prosecution is the result of Danny going to the US Attorney and FBI and asking for assistance in ridding the county of a culture of corruption. Good for him!
It doesn't matter to me in the least bit that she switched parties, so long as she doesn't buy into the union crap. School Board members should be elected on a nonpartisan basis anyway. I want people who serve on the Board of Education to be good stewards of the money entrusted to them who can provide quality education, not party hacks.
Ms. Radloff has done a great job and has devoted her life to Gwinnett schools. I'll take her for as long as she wants to serve.
