During a specially called meeting, the school board voted 4-0 to approve Brenda Johnson as principal of Centerville Elementary, Stacey Schepens as the new leader at Crews Middle, Yvette Arthur as principal at Lilburn Middle and Lane as principal at Mill Creek.
Have you seen the campus cops there?? They cant even get out and direct traffic for five minutes. I hate to know that my life might depend on them if something happened at that campus. Concealed weapons permits would be great other than I have to leave my gun in my truck. When I cross that magic line onto school property, I am no longer responsible enough to carry it.
Guess this mean another $100 per semester fee. Before much longer nobody will be able to afford to go here.
It is like the business world. The taxpayers are the same as the share holders who elect the board. The board then elects the CEO of the business/superintendent of the schools. When the voters starting educating themselves before voting and actually show up to vote then things will change.
It breaks my heart that people want to legislate their moral beliefs on everyone else is what is nearing the end of our great empire. You and I being able to have the "freedom" to choose what I want to participate in and don't want to participate in is what makes this country great. If you do not agree or believe in these activities then you have no obligation to participate in them nor by having anything of these actives being legal deprives you of your life, liberty, or property. But just because you don't believe in them or don't want to participate in them, doesn't mean that I should have your belief forced upon me. I should be able to choose for myself if I want to participate in these actives.
Your statistics still do not prove that speed detection is nothing more than a revenue generator. Just because someone is speeding does not make them more prone to causing an accident. A lot of roads in gwinnett county have speed limits that are set well below the normal flow of traffic and are deffinatly well below what they should be on a sunday morning when there is no traffic. There are far more factors that affect traffic rates than just speeding like your implying with your post. Weather conditions like icy roads, teenage drivers with no experience, texting, eating, reading a book while driving ect. All of these can cause accidents without the person speeding so why are the cops not out ticketing these people? Why are the cops not out catching people running red lights in the numbers that they are out catching speeders?
Next will be 25mph speed limits on all roads. That should make it easy enough to make up for lost revenue.
SPLOST funds do not go to administrative raises. SPLOST dollars are only allowed to be used for capital improvements. The majority of this SPLOST is planned to be used for maintaining buildings and replacing aging technology. This includes replacing HVAC systems, roofs, floor covering and painting. Like it or not but this is all stuff that wears out and only has a limited lifespan that will need to be replaced. So Gwinnett voters can extend the SPLOST tax for any that shops in Gwinnett to help pay for these capital expenses or the money will have to come from somewhere else. A sales tax is a much better tax since it is an optional tax that you only pay if you buy something whereas your property taxes have to be paid no matter what and if you dont someone will be taking your house away. I dont want my taxes raised either but I would much rather have them as a sales tax so that I can choose if I want to pay the tax or not.
"Funding for the tree-planting project was provided through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 and disbursed as part of Georgia's Growing Green Grant from the Georgia Forestry Commission."
No tax dollars used?
