Because it goes on and has gone on, that makes it OK? Our society has adopted a "if you don't get caught, it ain't cheatin' " mentality....horrific. And we wonder why our kids and our communities are the way some of them are.... There is no doubt those other schools are guilty as well; they're just a little better at it. Personally, I think these coaches should develop their own players instead of going out and recruiting the players someone else has invested in...I would be pretty upset if it was me or my son who was replaced by a player a coach recruited to come in and play after I/he had worked so hard and had been so loyal to the program and that coach. To me that would tell me "Your'e not good enough, so I'm going to go out and find someone else". A legitimate move-in is another story. How about doing a little coaching? "Loyalty"...now there's an out-of-style concept....actually, I'd be more than a little upset....

"Wrong and immoral" to take away her kids? What she did is wrong and immoral. First, she left her kids, then she lied about it. She's here illegally and needs to go back home. Are her kids not going with her? I would hope that they are....deport them all. Let her country deal with her....and her kids. Where's dad, by the way.....?

I disagree Braveshopr. Even teenagers know (or should know!) that vandalism is a crime. If they had done it with something other than paint, like soap or signs...shoot, silly-string!...almost anything OTHER than a permanent medium...I could see giving them a break. But this was a blatant disregard for public and/or other people's property. It costs a lot of money, time and effort to clean it up. I am a school teacher in Gwinnett...I'm around teenagers all the time....it's the "oh, but they're just kids", "give them a break", "we're trying to work with them" attitude that has allowed not just teenagers but everyone to figure that I can break the rules (in this case, the law!) and get away with it. Our lenient, free-spirit outlook on things has cost us dearly. Our society is a ultra-liberal, unethical, immoral mess as a result of our "give them a break", non-consequential, "if I don't get caught it ain't wrong" mentality. I say start enforcing the laws (the rules) with immediate and severe consequences...maybe then and only then, will people start to think twice before doing stupid things. If these kids are charged with felonies, and have to work for a long time to overcome that "black-mark" on their record, maybe future classes of kids at that school with think twice...

We've got a real mess on our hands in our country right now; it's going to take some real discipline and sacrifice if we are ever going to make it right again....

Recently, rules were handed down that prevent teachers of severely learning disabled and emotionally disturbed students from physically restraining them (techniques such as a "basket hold"). If this student had been taught that radical behavior resulted in restraining techniques being applied perhaps, just perhaps, she wouldn't have thought to attack an adult at the school. ssilover1 is right: this is an example of government making rules about things they have ZERO knowledge about....why not let the people "on the front lines" ie: teachers and site administrators make the call on these things. Trouble is, there are WAAAAAY too many lawyers in this world that want to sue someone over the disciplining of a kid...my opinion is, if people don't like the way a school disciplines their kids, they can take their kid elsewhere. We need discipline in our schools...and not just at the ones with emotional/behavioral disorders...ALL of them!

This is a direct result of the recent ruling that learning disabled students cannot be restrained when discipline is needed. Our legal system has gotten in the way of our education system...something called a "basket hold" was used for LD children in order to manage behaviors...when this is not allowed, these children won't learn discipline. Just another example of people sticking their nose into things they have absolutely no idea about! The lawyers and general public that don't know what they are doing should have left well enough alone...
