Wait...the caption says it is from an exhibit of evangelical preachers? Is this true? If so, why was Joel singled out?
OK...so artist could just say "nah it's not Osteen, just looks a bit like him". Then they have to put it back up. This is stupid, as many here have said. A "portrait" of a man who everyone agrees is just a human represents no religion at all. But to make sure this is done fairly, everybody check to make sure there are no pictures of Farrakhan up anywhere...
Make fixing the course their work detail. They stay in jail until its finished, and they are out there every day sweating to put it right again. Obviously they don't have the skills to fix it themselves, but they can at least serve a good part of the manual labor.
Listen, as bad as I feel for anyone inadvertently stuck in this traffic (I certainly am not one to like it!), this was an act of charity to the community. The church did its part, it raised the money, got the donations, and provided the volunteer support. The police did their part by providing the officers that were needed based on the plan. If any error was made, it would be by whomever approved the plan at the county level - and if there was police presence obviously there was some sort of plan in place. Guess what? I am sure they have learned their lesson, and next year we will see a different handling, whatever it may be.
In the meantime, if you are just spewing hatred, instead try being thankful that perhaps you have a job and a home, and pray that maybe next year you will again not need to line up and wait for hours to get a free meal handout.
FordGalaxy - so it ain't for you. That's fine, 12Stone does not purport to be the church for everyone. But they do things in a different way that does appeal to a lot of people, and are dedicated to transforming lives. I have seen many such cases in my 6+ years there.
I am disturbed by the apparent need for Christians to have a critical spirit of one another, or each other's churches. We should all be fighting for the same goal, to reach the lost, and these complaints about specific church practices, be it from how they baptize to the type of worship music to the color of the pews - these only serve to distract and make us look like a laughingstock. I would be concerned more with looking at the character of the people who are in a church, and do they put their hearts behind what they profess within the walls once they get outside the walls.
