While yes money is being spent relocated the decades old Lilburn Branch, it is not as big of hit to the library funds. The library is being relocated into property owned by the city of Lilburn. The City of Lilburn is also building a new city hall complex to alleviate the old city hall. The library will be located on the first floor of the building and the city hall administration on the on top two floors. Lilburn, not the library budget paid for the land and will cover the cost of the library (for the most part). By combining the buildings, not only do they save the taxpayers money but it is a win-win. And you have to remember that some SPLOST funds can only be used for certain purposes because that what the taxpayers voted on.
You make a good point and I don't totally disagree. Within Gwinnett we have a lot to take advantage of... there has been tremendous growth of the past few decades. Our people have come to expect so much and some people within the government have taken advantage of the success.
I may be bias, I have been born and raised in Gwinnett county but have spent time away at college and career choices away. Gwinnett is great, and with that you attract deception and again success.
As you say you have to keep you eyes wide open.... otherwise you will be run over. If you don't watch your government and for this article school system is doing you don't have a right a to complain. But you have to right to change the direction/way of success.
While yes these lists are limited, they have merit--to an extent. As I previously stated, this list does not mean Brookwood is a lesser school than Parkview. It does not mean that Parkview is better than Berkmar or Meadowcreek. Gwinnett County is leagues ahead of the many other school systems are the nation.
Reading the basis that they use for their calculation is understandable. They are measuring against a whole and those schools that can show performance in all ethnicities. What good is a school if they do not provide the same education to everyone?
Again their rankings involve more than that, go to their site and read them in their entirety.
No that does not mean Brookwood is a bad school. The rankings are based on average test scores for the state, the amount of AP classes, and whether the least-advantaged students (black, Hispanic and low-income) are performing well. The key is the latter, Brookwood has plenty of money and most upper middle class and mostly white folks.
Before you get up in a hissy fit educate yourself. This would be typical behavior or someone from B-wood, believing that they are better than the crowd. The world is diverse. I work for a global IT company, I know first hand.
Here's a link to the US news rankings for how they calculate the list: US NEWS Calculations
Horrible Idea, this makes me want to avoid the arena and im a gwinnett born and raise native. I really speechless that they would even consider pepsi. The deal should be broken and person that made the decision should be fired. Are greater returns on sells really better when less product would be sold? No, not when you will piss plenty of people off for not having coke. I am one of those people that will not compromise at all
