Can someone please explain to me how in the world North Gwinnett is ranked only 9th. I'm pretty sure they are still ranked behind Mountainview, NG beat them twice, Luella, another win for NG, a 9-5 Walton team and a 9-4 Roswell team. The only three teams who legitamately deserve to be ranked higher than NG are Grayson, who spanked NG, Newnan and of course Parkview. Who makes these rankings? They are at best mediocre. Etowah has lost to Roswell and Walton without beating a ranked team but somehow remains #2. Grayson took Parkview into extra innings and Parkview beat a nationally ranked team recently. SO DID BROOKWOOD. I wish the Gwinnettdailypost writers would have their own state rankings because you wouldn't be called biased for having 4 Gwinnett teams in the top 5. It would be justifiable.
More like Steam Rolling.....the Pack travels well, but this will be one trip they will want their gas money back from....NG rolls again 21-3...Our defense is too good.
Three reasons why NG won't lose, and they all come from Scotty Hosch so far this season.
188 completions out of 269 attempts = 70% accuracy
2,260 yards 20 TD's and only 3 INTs
3 rushing TD's and conducts the offense like a veteran pro. He has Miles and Jones plus Scott King and Boyd...The Defense is killing people...yupp i think NG will reverse the south ga hex this year don't you Brandon? Wanna know the biggest reason of all??? SPHIRE OPENED THE PLAYBOOK FINALLY THIS YEAR AND HIS CONSERVATIVE PLAY CALLING IN CRITICAL SITUATIONS IS GONE. Nobody beats the Bulldogs @ home unless players get hurt. Rain sleet or shine the DAWGS can win it all this year, just pick your poison of the run or pass.
Not gonna happen Friday night. I know it and you know it and the rest of Gwinnett knows it.
Archer is definately going to be a Gwinnett power in a few years. They have BIG players and honestly head NG's running game in check most of the night. Coach Dyer has a great talent pool to draw from and their youth league is excelling very fast. I know they took a blowout loss tonight, but this is the first step. I think if Archer wants to utilize their size and speed on offense they have to spread the ball out more. I was a little worried NG would come out flat against an unknown Archer team, but NG showed why they are a different team this year on both sides of the ball. Best of luck to Archer's program! These kids will be a household name soon!
The Norcross vs Dacula winner has the best shot at making it to the final four. Grayson and NG have the hardest task. I think NG has the hardest because Archer is better than Collins hill, and Colquitt is last year's state runner up, and then Camden is just Camden.
Sure the surviving teams will be prepared for the later rounds experience wise, but not physically. Teams like Camden will roll into the qrt finals very well rested because of their joke region schedule and their VERY easy first 2 opponents. Gwinnett has to limp out of the first round and then be exposed to the rest of the state. This is the GHSA's way of screwing Gwinnett teams over for having the most AAAAA schools in one county.
This team has the willingness, the ability, the love, the heart, the unity, the altruism and the relentlessness to win the state title. I've been skeptical in the past, but this Sphire team is ready for the challenge and they will answer the call. The defense will guide them to a state title this year. I honestly predicted Brookwood to win last year around week 1 of the playoffs. I noticed their defense was insanely good and they ran the hell out of the ball. It is NG's turn this season. GO DAWGS! One heart, one soul, one mission.
@ Will Hammock...What you forgot to mention is that the winner of the R7 title game has to beat the #4 seed from Archer or Parkview, then the East Coweta vs Valdosta or Lowndes winner, then Camden in the Qrts, and then Grayson in the semis, and if they are lucky enough to be standing at that point they should win the title. This side of the bracket will hold the two highest ranked teams in the state lol
However, the loser might have to play Brookwood, but you and I both know NG would be more than happy to welcome Brookwood back to Tom Robinson Memorial Stadium for another butt whoopin. The loser of this game has a much easier road to the dome than the winner does.
I would love to know your opinion on how that makes any sense. I know the brackets a set in a specific way, but this draw for the # seed from R7 is a nightmare.
@ Will Hammock...wasn't the former single season reception record held by Tyler Jarry of NG in 2007 @ 72 receptions?
