The mess we're in is a direct result of federal elected members of Congress actively conspiring through FNMA and FHMC and direct lenders/mortgage brokers to boost economic growth to an unsustainable level...then the bubble burst and I don't think we are near the bottom yet. We got an advance on our economy and now we're paying for it. Some are paying more than others.
As long as the OWS folks fail to grasp the enormity of the problem they will have no effect. It's not about democrat and republican anymore...this mess transcends politics and it may take five or ten more years to recover. Millions of jobs that really weren't needed in the first place simply disappeared starting in late '08 and they're not coming back. Get used to it.
Everything you need to know about a mortgage is right there in the paperwork. Especially under the section titled "Default" or words to the effect. As far as Georgia state law allowing non-judicial foreclosures, that is not the fault of the banks but our legislature.
The original article indicated an independent loan workout individual recommended the loan default, not the lender. Big difference. They got conned and then caught.
Odd that this funding need wasn't anticipated and included in the current and future property tax assessments. I note that education expense is already the largest part of my total bill. Probably more of a stop gap to fill in lower than anticipated revenue from taxpayers and the federal government. The latter affected in no small part by the recent outflux of documentation-challenged residents.
Sales taxes are regressive, and by their nature impact the least affluent purchasers of goods. I can simply continue to avoid the tax by buying big-ticket items from out of state vendors.
Didn't take long to vote "no" for e-splost after work. Only item on the ballot for my precinct. I did, however, become distracted and forgot to buy the beer. Next on the agenda: t-splost.
On my way home from work I'll pick up some beer and hopefully not become so distracted as to forget to stop and vote against e-splost!
