The Fair Tax idea came from Rep; John Linder of the 7th Congressional District of Georgia, he is a Republican and Neal Boortz with Linder wrote the book. I like the idea of the fair tax but it must be implimented on the Federal level first. My question is what affect will this have on a lot of our seniors that are on fixed income. When we do away with the income tax the funds for running the State must come from some where and the Seniors will be hit hardest. Can some one say how this will affect the seniors.
If you are going to blame the BOC then have a look at the BOC that approved this plan. Bannister: reisgned to avoid being jailed and charged with a crime. Kennerly who is being charged and will appear in court to answer charges. Lassiter who admitted taking a bribe and was sent to jail. and oh yes Mike B who may be under investigation for expense account charges. Those are the ones who stuck us with this plan along with Connie Wiggins. We need to know exactly how much Connie, often refered to as Connie's Commies, gets for the sale of the items that we recycle. You want transparenticy, start there. The sale of these recycle should be paid to the county in order to offset the cost of the service and reduce our payments to the county. We need to know all about the deals and payments that are being made and who gets the money.
In our neighborhood there are 3 senior citizens homes who used on trash service and split the cost of the service. The service they had was cheaper than what we have now. They did not even fill one container. Under the current plan they pay for the entire container empty or full. One of these familes can not fill the container in a month. Prepaid bags is the way to go. You pay for what you throw away. Fair and simple.
"My gut reaction is that for the Supreme Court to undo what the county had done ... would've cost millions of dollars and would've spawned more lawsuits," he added
This is the real reason for this ruling. We are stuck with this social plan until it comes up for renewal in a few years. If you do not want this plan then vote in some one who says that they will stop this plan and vote the ones who want it out. There are pros and cons to this plan, but most want to use the free enterprise and freedom of choice to do business with whom we wish. Most want less government in our lives there by reducing our tax burden. All that had to be done was to say you must have trash service, get your own just like car insurance. We will see how government operates when Obama care goes into full affect. Same principal but on a smaller scale.
You may not pay additonal sales taxes but rest assured that some of our tax money will be used some where. The CID may get some of the funding from the reatilers who pass this along to the customers who purchase items from them. There by raising the cost of an item the reataile can not afford to lose money. Any way you look at it this may cost the taxpayer in the long run. Believe in giving tax breaks to attract business to a certain area but not in this case for Gwinnett Place Mall.
Ask your self this question: Should we pay more in additional sales taxes for the same item we can get else where to pay for all these improvemts? The answer should be NO! As for the new diamond that is being proposed have seen them around the country as well as Dekalb County and must say that they are a nightmare. But if it speeds up traffic to get us out of this CID so be it. Stop wasting tax dollars on this area and sell the land to a used car dealer.
Large companies and those who have aquired great wealth are moving their earinings off shore out of this country. Take a look at GE for instance. they paid no taxes under the current system of taxation, but they followed tha current taxation laws and other companied have moved their wealth and jobs out of this country probably to never return again until we reform our tax laws and put a stop to so many give away programs. Both Democrats and Republicans and others are to blame. Until Congress follows the same laws that are imposed up us by them then do not look for things to change very much.
Look at the times that this meeting was held. Most were stuck in traffic. They knew that this schedule would work in their favor. The meetings snould start at 7PM to say 9PM and give that people time to get to these meetings. Thay know what they are doing.
Did they not take a soil sample of the area in order to ensure what they were dealing with before demolition? Thought that was SOP. Now they want more money to complete the job.
