SPLOST forever adds more government employees and facilities which the taxpayer has to fund via additional taxation. Sort of like me giving you a horse for a penny on the dollar and through your simple minded thinking you think it is a great deal. Then you have to feed the critter, have a pasture to put it on, build a barn to house it, pay the vet bills, buy a truck and trailer to transport it, buy a saddle and bridle, etc. etc. To add insult to injury all these additional upkeep items require you to pay more taxes. But that is great, because it helps policemen and firemen, the environment, and of course it is done for the children. Parks and libraries are grossly overbuilt in this county and such projects as Beaudreau having a 400 thousand dollar tunnel built at his favorite golf course hang out waste millions of dollars each year. The commissioners love SPLOST because it provides a funding source to buy votes.

I wander if Mike has always called himself a Republican? His Democrat style spending and involving government in roles which it should not be involved in, has cost the taxpayers millions now and far into the future. He is a political wanna-be rubbing noses with those in the party he thinks will give him political capital down the road. The likes of him have ruined the credibility of the so called conservative Republican party. I would just as soon vote for a Democrat rather than this rino. At least with a Democrat you know what you are getting up front. Woodall looses credibility when he associates with this corrupt looser.

If the pay and benefit package is so low then they do have the option of entering another profession. That is my option where I work. Just because it has gone for decades does not make the practice acceptable. Don't give me that "poor ole cop does not make any money" routine.

The policy of allowing police and sheriff deputies to commute to their homes with the county provided police car @ taxpayer expense should not be allowed. They should provide their own transportation and associated expenses for getting to their job like employees in the private sector. I know of many Gwinnett county cops who live outside Gwinnett and get to mooch off the taxpayers for their commuting expenses.

Nancy, Barack, and Harry, need to have a press conference and explain how the Bushes are responsible for these outrageous gasoline prices and a subsidy program similar to liheap, snap, tafdc, and the free Obama phone needs to be implemented. Oh yes, the auto rental and hotel tax is loved by the commissioners cause the poor saps who visit Gwinnett have to pay for our services. What a treat----- and then when we go on vacation to another part of the world the local politicians there tax us to pay for their goodies. Then come election time BOC members proclaim "look at all the goodies I got for your vote". Nice when taxpayers pay the bribe money........

My household budget is controlled by limiting spending based on need rather than all the extras I would like to have. The so called conservative Republicans who are on the BOC have no concept of controlling spending by operating with lower revenue. Gwinnettresident1 makes a point of how parks have been overbuilt. My commissioner "Mike the Spender" is so proud of all the parks he has helped to add since he has held office. We are strapped with staffing and maintaining these excessive parks forever. Once a tax source is implemented the politicians refuse to cut spending if the original source is ended. Their solution is to implement another tax instead of cutting spending. ENOUGH ALREADY!!!! BOHICA P. S. Thank you so much Mike for the parting gift of the stadium and your trash plan which increased taxes for the citizens of Gwinnett..

One of her husbands greatest mentors was Frank Marshall Davis, who was a self acclaimed Communist. He taught Obama that the Marxist change Obama wanted had to take place from the inside politically rather than militarily and that is what Obama meant when he said he would fundamentally change this country after taking office. Mike, you are so right proclaiming it was the perfect storm which lost the campaign for you. Enough citizens who were totally fed up with your being on the wrong side of the issues and not listening to their concerns went to the polls and voted your rino tail out of office. You effectively raised taxes on citizens by building excessive libraries and parks not needed which we have to pay for maintenance and staffing. But heck, it is so cool when you can use taxpayer money to buy votes. I live less than 10 minutes from 4 parks and 4 libraries. It is total overkill. Thanks for the stadium you claim is making money, the land deals you voted for, and that wonderful trash plan you and Charles forced on us. But according to you your loss was due to low voter turnout and negative campaigning. Just like Obama, everyone and everything else is to blame for your sub par performance. Then you have to insult the taxpayers even more with wasting their money on a recount. It takes a pathetic political hack to promote changing the voting laws after loosing which would have put them in office. If you had won by 57 votes the current law would have been just fine with you. You totally blew it Mike, it is your fault and finally you are getting what you deserve. There is Karma.
