People from foreign countries can already drive for up to one year in Georgia as long as they have a valid/unexpired license from their country. This is the info from GA DDS. If you are here longer you should be required to get a GA DL.

There is probably a good reason for the mother's fears. I would have welcomed a joint custody agreement and shared parenting with my ex-husband. However, I fought long and hard for sole physical and legal custody with no visitation. My ex had mental instability and rage issues that he only addressed when forced to by the court. He stopped treatment once the divorce was final. We only feel safe because he has moved to a different state.

I've got news for you Antonette, daddy didn't save your life. You were already with your parents and should have gone to their home. I'm sure you could have waited to go back to your apartment the next day with a police escort to get your things. Obviously you chose to stay in a violent drama filled relationship. Your father made a poor choice to accompany you back to the apartment. Really 25 voicemails to your parents?? You threw the bait to your father, he took it and ended up losing his life. Time for you to grow up and make better choices.

The son should not have made any statement, especially to the media. The only way the son could have intervened would be to petition the court for full guardianship of his father. I am not sure of all the steps required to do this and if he would have been successful. How you attempt to take a person's vehicle and driving privilege from them is another set of issues. Just telling people that his father has a drinking problem and not to over serve him was at least an attempt on his part to do something. You can't blame the son for any of this. The man responsible is the man who decided to drink to excess and get behind the wheel of a vehicle. Looking at his age there is a good chance he was on medication and shouldn't have been drinking for that reason alone.
