Some of the gropus who gave money in support of TSplost. Pretty easy to see why these donors want it passed.
$250,000: Coke, Ga Power, Yancey Bros. (catepillar dealer), Cox, Ga Assoc of Realtors,
$100,000+: Cousins Properties, Delta, Comcast, Matthews Contracting, Post Apartments, Siemens, SunTrust, Home Depot, Vulcan Materials
$50,000: Catepillar, Atl. Gas Light, Duke Realty, Ga Hwy Contractors, Holder Construction, Regions Bank, Wells Fargo
@SickandTired: You have link to that list? Was wondering about this recently.
Part of TSplost money will fund a new tower at Cobb's McCollum airport. That airport will also get new runway lighting. Just fantastic.
It isn't the money to me as much as I don't trust GaDOT, SRTA nor ARC. And all of the so called 'facts' I have read have quoted statistics generated by these three groups. They continue to lie to us over and over again...from the 400 toll to the theft of the HOV lane on 85.
No way do I vote for anything that puts them in charge of spending our money.
Cross-Pointe and 12 Stone right next door to each other? That intersection at Satellite and Sugarloaf will be fun around noon on Sundays.
They need to just go ahead and stick a hotel/casino with real gaming like blackjack, slots and poker on this site or the old GM plant site on 285. Doing that in Underground would turn that hell hole around as well.
Direct that money to the Hope/Pre-K, just like the lottery is now, and we wouldn't have to worry about funding the Hope. Horse racing is fun but has a limited audience but a real casino would be a huge success. Most of the tracks are having a tough time even staying open. Birmingham's didn't last any time at all...same for Aksarben, but a true casino would thrive.
Wonder if Governor Deal used the HOT Lanes, stolen from Gwinnett County taxpayers, on his way out to the ball park, paid for when it was forced down the throats of Gwinnett County taxpayers?
SRTA at least has the presence of mind to keep Gena Evans away from the microphone. It took them awhile, but they learned she said dumber things the Malika.
Also please keep in mind that T-SPLOST funds will largely be administered in part by the same departments who brought us the HOT lanes. Now, I notice the ads for T-SPLOST complaining about the traffic, but the HOT lanes, at SRTA's own admission do NOTHING to improve congestion. And they say the HOT lane was NEVER about improving traffic. Add to a problem by stealing lanes and charging for them, then beg people for a tax increase to pay to 'improve' congestion. Thanks SRTA/GaDOT but no thanks.
To the reporter. Has Malika Wilkins provided any details on violations and fines? This article, dated 2/1/12 says the data would be available in about a month. BTW, please keep up the good work reporting on the thieves at SRTA/GaDOT.
You know how they determine if the HOT lane is a success? If the average speed during 'rush hour' is above 45 mph. So, if only one car used it during rush hour, the PhDs at SRTA would proclaim it a success. The less people that use it, the more successful it is considered. Amazing.
