In summary, no raises for county employees. The police department can't hire officers fast enough to replace the ones leaving. I bet they find the money for more parks, and of course over half a million dollars for sidewalks along gang infested Club Dr.

$625,000 for sidewalks on Club Dr? What a way to waste more tax payer money. I guess the gang bangers won't have to worry about slipping on wet grass when running from the local stop n rob they just hit. This will be nothing but a headache as they construct these sidewalks. But hey, the CID thinks they know best. Of course the county DOT agrees, they know how to waste more money than anybody.

Excellent verdict. There is no way the prosecution met their burden to get a conviction on either one of the charges. I can't believe Zimmerman actually received a fair trial / verdict. I'm proud of the justice system today. It's sad to see the country is full of animals and savages that turn to violent protests and burn American flags in the street because they are too stupid and ignorant to accept the verdict. Way to show your displeasure! You don't like the verdict so you destroy cops cars and vandalize cops cars. You know you pay for that property you just damaged? Oh wait, you don't pay taxes on food stamps.

Leave it to the Gwinnett Daily Post to have a headline like, " Man facing 20 years for stealing $96. " Way to make a headline that sounds like this poor man is getting a harsh sentence for a misdemeanor theft. How about, " Man facing 20 years for robbing store at gun point. " GDP it sure would be nice if you didn't try and write the headlines and stories to always minimize the crimes these thugs commit on a daily basis. Way to set an example for the next generation, not that they read anything other than text messages and twitter anyways.

I'm sure the people she was there with won't be embarrassed. They are probably just as big of thugs and not only do they think this behavior is ok, they encourage it.

The code of police work? Tell me pcjohn, what do you know about police work? I've seen your comments. You seem to think law enforcement is some secret community of evil, unethical, law breakers. Some police officers do things that are unethical and illegal, and they deserve to be punished just the same as the people they swore to protect. Those officers, however, represent an extremely small percentage of law enforcement officers across the country. I find it interesting when I respond to people's homes and they make it clear they don't like police officers, yet they call us when they are the victim of a crime. Interesting though it may be, I look past the irorny and provide them with the same level of service I give every citizen. Why? Because I conduct my business as a professional, just like many of my fellow officers. Don't generalize an entire profession because some don't take their oath seriously. Don't pretend like you know anything about police work.

$15,000 for a surveillance system that "doesn't prevent bad things from happening, but it makes parents and the community feel better. " It won't do anything to help, but it sure makes people FEEL better! Better appropriate some funds for blankies and teddy bears to pass out in case there is a shooting. It won't prevent any children from being killed, but hey, it will sure make them feel better!

Mark Smith, there is no code section in Georgia titled " Attempted Murder. " The code section that covers that is " aggravated assault, " which he was charged with. Aggravated assault means " to assault with the intent to murder, rape, or rob. "

"I had no leeway," she said. "Now, when that young man comes out, he may have a high school education. He won't have any college. He will have no career. And it's going to be very difficult for him to be successful in life."Strong

I'm sorry but if he is using a pistol, real or a replica, to rob people for a jacket at 17 years old, then I don't think him going to prison is going to make his chance of becoming an astronaut or brain surgeon any smaller. At 17 years old, he is old enough to decide if he wants to pursue a college education and succesful career. If he chooses to rob someone for a piece of clothing, then he has decided his own fate.
