Probably something averaged out for a typical 3 person abode. I don't have kids but I pay school tax as an example. Taxes should be based on consumption not valuation. I feel the same way about cars - a new car doesn't tear up the roads any more than an old one does so why tax it more?

The answer is to tax property based on occupancy - not value. That way a 3 bedroom house worth $250k would be taxed the same as a 3 bedroom apartment worth $100k. Given that both will house the same number of people, load the schools similarly and demand infrstructure like sewer and water equally it seems fair to me.

As a Christian myself I feel like the life I have is a gift to be enjoyed and treasured. But I also understand that medical technology has its limits and often doesn't extend life so much as it prolongs death. I often wonder if putting people/children through such tortuous and painful treatments as Tripp has had to endure is the right thing to do when God has so clearly tried to bring Tripp home so many times. I suppose none of us will ever know the answer.

What fascinates me is that the people who will be most upset at the decision not to do CPR on this woman (which, apparently, was her wish) are the bible pounders who say you're going to paradise when you die. Well, if this lady wanted to be let go from her pain and failing health to go to heaven why is the God Squad trying to make her stay here? I felt the same way about Karen Ann Quinland and Terri Schiavo. Even John Paul II refused feeding tubes and CPR when his time came and you didn’t see the Catholic Church hooking him up to machines did you? Death isn't optional, it comes to us all. Time to get the lawyers and moral majority out of the process and let people die with the dignity of knowing their wishes will be respected.

As is always the case I can predict who will win the Seat: It'll be the oldest, dumbest, most redneck sounding, white, (supposedly) religious nut anti abortion zealot in the pack (even if they've been repeatedly found guilty of ethics violations, repeated divorces or putting relatives into key positions). Look at every state wide election for governor, senate, house, etc. and you'll see that's always how it goes. We have crooks and idiots for elected officials because people continue to vote for crooks and idiots. What does that say about Georgia's voters?

More hard core reporting from Camie Young. Wow. I really had to read this to know that Democrats love Obama and Republicans don't. Again, wow! Seems like all the political reporting I read in this paper are quotes - in other words the politicians email in what they want and Ms Young reprints it. This is not reporting - it is cut, copy and paste.

I'm conservative but Broun is the stereotypical "Foghorn Leghorn" southern Republican that sullies the brand. Can anyone tell me why a white MAN who's been married four times is a moral authority on anything let along women's reproductive rights? Wonder what his opinion on legitimate rape is?
