Regulations (infringements) are not allowed by the 2A. Background checks are a violation of the Constitution. Weapon type/design regulations are violations as well. The only reason any of these have stood is because law-abiding citizens have allowed it. They have allowed it because they have always felt they have a remedy at the ballot box. Once the realization sets in that that no longer exists and the government oversteps its bounds the People will "throw off that government" and replace it with a new one.
I hear you. I don't mean to defend the BOC's action by any means. The crap that led to the court order could have been, should have been, avoided, so no free pass. I'm just amazed at what this bunch gets by with in the name of our children. The lack of outrage has to embolden other levels of government when it comes time to grab more of our money.
You HAVE GOT to be KIDDING me. Seriously? And people came unglued over a proposed tax increase by the BOC due to a darn good reason--a court order??? People, here are the real crooks, and they'll hide behind "it's for the kids"!!! And this moron, Wilbanks, actually STATING that if it generates more than they need they'll blow it on crap they aren't even planning instead of giving it back to the People. When are we going to say enough is enough. How many of you turned out pretty good even WITHOUT a $1.7 billion public school budget? I am so furious I can hardly see straight!
What are you guys smoking? This article is date May 13, the retirement is effective May 24. That's more than 5 days. That's a two-week notice. Plus, as said, I heard friends in the fire department discussing this well before Christmas. Chief Myers is one of the good guys, and had a long career serving Gwinnett. Good luck to you Chief.
Suckers in my bedroom, or comes in my house, he's getting killed, plain and simple. I'm not going to hold a question and answer session as to what he's doing there. The "law" can do what it wants, but I ain't taking chances. Better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6.
They may have sided with the county. They may say it's legal. Doesn't mean it's right and doesn't mean they can make the county keep it. It will run out in time and if politicians have any sense they will see what support of it will do to their careers. It ended Mike Beaudreau's career and it will end others.
Actually they are wrong. When this "fee" went into effect, they are required to cover ALL drainage issues, not just in streets and easements. No one has challenged them yet is the issue.

Actually the storm water fee was a solution looking for a problem which even allowed Bannister and Kenerly the ability to say "I didn't raise taxes".
