Correct, all private property is taxed (an entire 'nuther discussion) but not at the same rate. There are TONS of exemptions that lower the taxable value of property but the vehicles and traveling those folks do contribute to the need to improve and repair the transportation system. This "fair tax" is the only way to make sure everyone pays---and it is still a percentage point less than neighboring counties which is an incentive for those "passing through" to buy here.

Not so. Most of that increase went to cover bonds. They can still increase Operations & Maintenance (which is what is maxed at 20 mils) another 0.75 mils.

So am I to believe that someone, or some future administration, whether on the local, state, or national level comes to power with bad intentions, they will never use this information to track those they feel threatened by? Bull Crap!!

I loved this: "Zimmerman, who is part Hispanic,.." Why don't we ever hear, "Obama, who is part black,..."

So what is the time limit that a so-called "racist" term has to be used in order to legally be considered a "racist" term and legally used to charge a "hate" crime?? Perhaps Cracker doesn't offend white people because most are not so sensitive and looking for a way to benefit from "racism"???

BufordGuy 10 months, 3 weeks ago on THOMAS: Tyranny is no longer 'lurking'

Regulations (infringements) are not allowed by the 2A. Background checks are a violation of the Constitution. Weapon type/design regulations are violations as well. The only reason any of these have stood is because law-abiding citizens have allowed it. They have allowed it because they have always felt they have a remedy at the ballot box. Once the realization sets in that that no longer exists and the government oversteps its bounds the People will "throw off that government" and replace it with a new one.

I hear you. I don't mean to defend the BOC's action by any means. The crap that led to the court order could have been, should have been, avoided, so no free pass. I'm just amazed at what this bunch gets by with in the name of our children. The lack of outrage has to embolden other levels of government when it comes time to grab more of our money.

You HAVE GOT to be KIDDING me. Seriously? And people came unglued over a proposed tax increase by the BOC due to a darn good reason--a court order??? People, here are the real crooks, and they'll hide behind "it's for the kids"!!! And this moron, Wilbanks, actually STATING that if it generates more than they need they'll blow it on crap they aren't even planning instead of giving it back to the People. When are we going to say enough is enough. How many of you turned out pretty good even WITHOUT a $1.7 billion public school budget? I am so furious I can hardly see straight!
