South African leader Nelson Mandela dies at 95 December 5, 2013
I missed this year's ceremony for the first time in many years due to health issues. This is such an important event and I am so gratified that we have this monument and this day is remembered in such a moving way.
Congratulations Corporal Patrick Paul, Wow! That sure makes me proud.
If the Chamber of Commerce is producing a return on investment as outstanding as they claim, then I would think they would be proudly presenting the supporting reports to the citizens of Gwinnett County. Our Commissioners should be demanding accountability from the Chamber and open records. The GCPS system gives money to the Chamber because it is a good investment? I recall the GCPS thought their "deal" on their new headquarters was a good investment. "The unusual sale and lease-back arrangement ended up costing Gwinnett taxpayers about $34 million more than if the school district had simply held onto the building and paid for the renovation with cash on hand, an Atlanta Journal-Constitution investigation found". The taxpayers of Gwinnett County are really fed up.
This just makes me ill. Swans are so beautiful. I hope you find who did this and the punishment is severe.
In response to rco1847 - I have been involved with the anti-expansion group from day one. I have read every article written by Cammie Young and found her to be a professional reporter who tried to present both sides of the issue. You comment about her is insulting.
The county staff's recommendation should be the guide for the BOC along with all the report presented by the Citizens Review Committee. The vote should take place on Tuesday.
When I was in high school in the 50's, Edge's Cafe was where the Trailaways Bus Station was located. Lawrenceville Square is such a beautiful place to bring your family and out of town visitors and a short walk to the new Lawrenceville Lawn will be a wonderful addition to the city. Thank you to all who are making this possible.
I am so sorry to read this. I will keep him in my prayers for healing and keep the family in my prayers for strength. God bless this hero. I am so grateful for his service.
Every time an expert brings forth information that privatizing and commercializing Briscoe Field will not be the success that is projected by Propeller Investments, the expert is discounted as questionable and biased. Every time. Report after report from experts have all said the same thing - DO NOT DO THIS - but this is all discounted in the quest for the millions - no billions promised by Propeller. I hope the Board of Commissioners will do their due diligence on this company. Surely they will.
Jeremy Paul Stephens, a master’s candidate from Embry-Riddle, submitted his unsolicited thesis to the Citizen's Review Committee as justification for Briscoe expansion. Two of the main sources of information cited by Mr. Stephens were none other than Brett Smith, President of Propeller Investments, and Fly Gwinnett Forward.
With these two sources, draw your own conclusion about the validity of Mr. Stephens thesis, just remember - thesis means- a hypothetical proposition, especially one put forth for the sake of argument or one to be accepted without proof. (American Heritage Dictionary)
