BOONE: Running on sacred ground

The 10K was held to commemorate the 70th anniversary of D-Day and to raise money to preserve a World War II museum in Toccoa. Currahee is also the same spot where thousands of men trained to prepare for World War II, which was also featured on the HBO series “Band of Brothers.” We knew this was sacred ground and such a special place. Many of those men who ran up and down Currahee never made it home back in the 1940s.
