PREP ROUNDUP: Hawkins, Tindol power North Gwinnett to win
LOGANVILLE — Chris Hawkins and Luke Tindol hit home runs in the third inning to lead a nine-run scoring effort in North Gwinnett’s 14-3 win over Grayson on Monday.

LOGANVILLE — Chris Hawkins and Luke Tindol hit home runs in the third inning to lead a nine-run scoring effort in North Gwinnett’s 14-3 win over Grayson on Monday.
Hawkins was 3-for-3 with a grand slam and five RBIs, while Tindol was 3-for-4 with a homer and three RBIs. Coty Nash was 2-for-2 and Nick Jones was 2-for-4 with an RBI as the Bulldogs (3-2) had 14 hits in the game.
Daniel Sathmary was the winning pitcher, going four innings and allowing six hits and two earned runs. He struck out three.
BASEBALL
Mill Creek 8, Brookwood 0
DAHLONEGA — Mill Creek’s Mason Felt struck out nine to lead the Hawks to a 8-0 win over Brookwood at North Georgia College and State University on Monday.
Felt (1-0) pitched 51⁄3 innings, allowing five hits and one walk. Eric Alonzo pitched 11⁄3 of shutout innings with one strikeout.
Casey Parham led the offensive attack by going 3-for-3 with a double and an RBI. Greg Brody was 2-for-3 with an RBI, Aryan Rodriguez was 2-for-3 two RBIs, and Jerad Curry was 1-for-2 with a homer for the Hawks (3-1).
Norcross 4, Kell 3
MARIETTA — Brian Leach had the game winning hit, driving in Tanner Maloof to give Norcross a 4-3 win over Kell on Monday.
Chris Rasch (three strikeouts) was the starting pitcher, Spencer Nelley (two strikeouts) was the wining pitcher and Carl VanBeber (two strikeouts) got the save.
Miguel Guzman (1-for-3, two runs), Van Beber (1-for-3, RBI), Will Paschal (1-for-2, RBI), Leach (1-for-2), Andrew Prater (1-for-3, run) and Andrew Gray (1-for-2, RBI) led the Blue Devils (4-1).
Collins Hill 16, South Gwinnett 6
LAWRENCEVILLE — Morgan Ownbey was 3-for-3 with a home run to help Collins Hill to a 16-6 win over South Gwinnett on Monday.
Dakota Conn was 2-for-3 with two RBIs and Grant Earls was 2-for-3 with an RBI. Tray Markberry was the winning pitcher for the Eagles (3-0), going four innings and allowing six hits and striking out two. Earls pitched one inning and struck out three.
South’s Ryan Patterson was 2-for-3 with two RBIs and Adam Doss was 2-for-4.
Parkview 11, Alpharetta 1
LILBURN — Parkview remained unbeaten after an 11-1 win over Alpharetta in five innings on Monday.
Jesse Foster (2-for-4, RBI), Austin Wheeler (2-for-3, HR), Brandon Kregel (3-for-3, two doubles, RBI), Matt Olson (2-for-3, two RBIs) and Marquis Webb (1-for-2, RBI) led the offensive attack for the Panthers (5-0).
Zack Reinstein (1-0) pitched five innings, allowing four hits, one run and striking out six. He was also 1-for-3 with a three-run homer.
Meadowcreek 11, Cross Keys 5
ATLANTA — Sophomore Chris Custodio earned his first career win for the Mustangs as they defeated Cross Keys 11-5 on Monday.
Reymond Ventura led the way for Meadowcreek (2-3) on offense with a single and a double. Juan Rubio, Custodio, Alvin Boggs and Juan Lopez each added a hit in the win.
Mountain View 7, Apalachee 3
LAWRENCEVILLE — Alex Brock, Kyle Mitchell and Tyler Bethune each had two hits to lead Mountain View to a 7-3 win over Apalachee on Monday.
Mitchell was the winning pitcher, going six innings and allowing four hits, two runs, one walk and striking out four for the Bears (2-3).
Buford 8, North Hall 3
BUFORD — Eric Eck struck out five to lead Buford to a 8-3 win over North Hall on Monday. Eck (2-0) pitched four innings and allowed zero runs. Troy Herterick pitched three innings and struck out six and allowed three runs.
Adam Schrader had two hits, scored three runs and stole three bases. Brian Clark had two RBIs and a double and a triple and Mason Gentry had a hit and two RBIs for the Wolves (5-1).
GAC 11, Archer 5
LAWRENCEVILLE — Patrick Stone pitched four innings and Ajyden Melson pitched three to lead GAC to an 11-5 win over Archer on Monday.
Taylor Bruener (2-for-5), Robby McPherson (2-for-3), Jordan Dudek (2-for-4) and Riley Duke (2-for-3) led the offensive attack for the Spartans (2-5).
Killian Hill wins doubleheader
KENNESAW — Killian defeated Shiloh Hills 15-2 and 15-0 in a doubleheader on Monday.
Jeffery Lanier (2-0) was the winning pitcher in Game 1, going five innings and allowing three hits and two earned runs and strikes out five.
Kyle Bailey (3-for-4, two RBIs), Clay Watson (2-for-4, two RBIs), Andrew Townsend (2-for-2, RBI) and Austin Parks (two hits) led Killian Hill’s offense.
Bailey was the winning pitcher in Game 2, going three innings and allowing two hits and striking out four.
Townsend was 2-for-3 with two RBIs, Bailey had an RBI and a triple, Lanier had a hit and an RBI, Watson had two RBIs and Samuel Winston had two RBIs for Killian Hill (4-1, 4-0).
BOYS SOCCER
Peachtree Ridge 2, Mill Creek 1
SUWANEE — Peachtree Ridge edged Mill Creek 4-2 in penalty kicks to a take a 2-1 win over the Hawks on Monday.
The Lions’ Garrett McClurg scored in regulation along with Mill Creek’s Matt Levins.
Mitch Kupstas and Tyler Young split time in goal for the Lions (3-3, 1-1) and Jake Thomas was the goalkeeper for the Hawks.
Grayson 3, Chapel Hill 2
DOUGLASVILLE — Josiah Williams scored the game-winning goal to give Grayson a 3-2 win in overtime over Chapel Hill on Monday.
Luke Sigman and Mason Flynn added goals for the Rams (2-2-1).
Archer 3, Loganville 1
LAWRENCEVILLE — Abdul Yakubu scored two goals and Zach Wacholz added one to lead Archer (1-5) to a 3-1 win over Loganville on Monday.
GIRLS SOCCER
Mill Creek 1, Peachtree Ridge 0
SUWANEE — In a battle of unbeatens, Mill Creek came out on top with a 1-0 win over Peachtree Ridge on Monday.
Lauren Tanner supplied the game’s lone goal for the Hawks (6-0) on an assist by Nicole Ruggieri, while Tessa Lukens made eight saves in goal.
Peachtree Ridge’s (5-1) McCall Gardner made six saves.
Grayson 2, Chapel Hill 1
DOUGLASVILLE — Grayson picked up its first win of the season, beating Chapel Hill 5-4 in penalty kicks to take a 2-1 victory on Monday.
Erin Griffin scored the Rams’ (1-3-1) lone goal in regulation of the 24-minute mark in the second half. Goalkeeper Molly Williams made six saves.
BOYS TENNIS
South Gwinnett 4, Central Gwinnett 1
SNELLVILLE — Andrew Pridgen and Emirami Pete won at No. 2 and No. 3 singles to lead South Gwinnett to a 4-1 win over Central Gwinnett on Monday.
Chawnessy Flynt and Dennis Gast won at No. 1 doubles and Timmy Johnson and Ben Burghouse for victorious at No. 2 doubles for the Comets (4-3, 2-2).
Wesleyan 3, GAC 2
NORCROSS — With his team tied 2-2, Wesleyan’s Jeffrey Chang won a third-set tiebreaker Monday afternoon for the decisive point in a 3-2 win over rival Greater Atlanta Christian in boys tennis.
Norman Chang gave the Wolves (4-2) another point at No. 1 singles, while Wesleyan’s No. 2 doubles team of Tradd Cannon and Andrew Dorman also was victorious.
GAC’s Hunter Ragland also won at No. 3 singles, as did the No. 1 doubles team of Jake Montgomery and David Floyd.
North Gwinnett 3, Parkview 2
SUWANEE — The Panthers fell to the Bulldogs on the road Monday despite victories by Lance Mengel at No. 1 singles and Luke McDonald at No. 3 singles.
GIRLS TENNIS
South Gwinnett 5, Central Gwinnett 0
SNELLVILLE — South Gwinnett picked up wins from singles players Jessica Bills, Ansley Kane and Ashley Moeller to lift the Comets to a 5-0 win over Central Gwinnett on Monday.
The Comets also got doubles wins from Brianna Griggs and Mariah Bartelmez at No. 1 doubles and Dominique Henry and Jacqueline Pena at No. 2 doubles.
Parkview 3, North Gwinnett 2
LILBURN — Cara Motz won at No. 1 singles to lead Parkview to a 3-2 victory over North Gwinnett on Monday.
Rebecca Streich and Kristin Miller won at No. 1 doubles and Anna Fluevog and Alex Vagassi won at No. 2 doubles.
GAC 3, Wesleyan 2
NORCROSS — Greater Atlanta Christian defeated Wesleyan 3-2 on Monday. Megan Kelly and Caroline Nelson picked up wins for the Wolves (2-4) at No. 2 and No. 3 singles.
BOYS GOLF
Central wins tri-meet
MONROE — Central Gwinnett won a tri-meet with South Gwinnett and Archer on Monday at the Providence Club.
Dillon Powell shot a 39 and Bobby Petty shot a 44 to lead the Black Knights to a 201 score. Archer’s Antonio Chisholm shot a 52 to lead the Tigers (211) and South’s Matt Drumm shot a 45 for the Comets (215).
Delhantly leads Blue Devils to win
DULUTH — Norcross’ Will Delhantly shot a 1-under 34 to lead the Blue Devils to a 142-186 victory over Duluth at Northwood Country Club on Monday.
Ryan Trocchio and Josh Klipstein each shot a 35 and Justin Cho shot a 35 for Duluth.
Eagles Landing Christian 153, Providence 163
DULUTH — The Stars fell to the Chargers on Monday at Northwood Country Club despite Mookie DeMoss earning low medalist honors by firing a nine-hole total of 1-under par 34.
Rick Rackley also broke 40 with a round of 4-over 39. Garrett Barton posted the low round of the day for ELCA with an even-par 35.
GIRLS GOLF
Archer wins tri-meet
MONROE — Archer won a five-round tri-meet with Central Gwinnett and South Gwinnett on Monday at the Providence Club.
The meet was shorted due to daylight and the Tigers’ Taylor Albritton shot a 30 to lead Archer to a team score of 61. South’s Julia Zumicky shot a 30 for the Comets (65) and Central’s Jessica Payne shot a 34 for the Black Knights (69).
Providence 105, ELCA 134
DULUTH — The Stars downed the Chargers on Monday at Northwood Country Club behind a low round of 48 from Nicole Cosentino.
Duluth 103, Norcross 117
DULUTH — The Wildcats won their match on the links against the Blue Devils on Monday at the Northwood Country Club.
Katie Mauldin shot a 50 to win low-medalist honors for Duluth. Norcross’ best round came from Alex Vereen, who shot a 57.
Collins Hill wins tri-match
LAWRENCEVILLE — The Eagles shot 79 to defeat Chattahoochee (83) and Peachtree Ridge (109) in a tri-match of Region 7-AAAAA teams Monday at Collins Hill Golf Club.
Lauren Court was the low medalist of the day after shooting a nine-hole total of 1-over par 36.
BOYS LACROSSE
Duluth 7, Parkview 5
LILBURN — David Kelley and Charlie Hall each scored two goals to lead Duluth to a 7-5 win over Parkview on Monday.
Ben Loyal, David Ogden and Brendan Ekard each had goals with Hall and Ekard also providing assists for the Wildcats (1-2).
GIRLS LACROSSE
Duluth 8, Parkview 6
LILBURN — Mariah Hinson, Ali Cole and Amy Nicholos each scored two goals in Duluth’s 8-6 win over Parkview on Monday.
Samantha Christian and Ajahna Gerosvenor each added a goal. Paige Salkowski made 11 saves in goal for the Wildcats (2-2).
Kelly Spevacek and Bethany Barbour each scored two goals for Parkview. Jenny Tam and Sammi Bosler each had a goal and Lisa McManus had eight saves in goal for Panthers (1-4).
Peachtree Ridge 24, Norcross 9
NORCROSS — Michelle Fortier score five goals to lead Peachtree Ridge to a 24-9 victory on Monday.
Rachel Harper and Jennifer Hennelly each scored four goals for the Lions (3-0, 1-0).
Grayson 17, Gainesville 0
GAINESVILLE — Grayson defeated Gainesville 17-0 on Monday.
Blessed Trinity 15, GAC 4
NORCROSS — Lyndsey Kytle scored two goals and had one assist in Greater Atlanta Christian’s 15-4 loss to Blessed Trinity on Monday.
Amanda Jordan and Sarah Brown added goals for the Spartans (5-1, 1-1).
Wesleyan 17, Lambert 8
NORCROSS — Lizzie Eversbusch scored five goals to lead Wesleyan to a 17-8 win over Lambert on Monday. Ali Tustin added four goals for the Wolves (2-1).
