In this May 31, 2011 file photo, Indianapolis 500 winner Dan Wheldon visits Frankie's Sports Bar & Grill in downtown Fort Worth, Texas to promote the Firestone Twin 275s at Texas motor Speedway. Wheldon died Sunday, Oct. 16, 2011 in a fiery 15-car wreck at Las Vegas Motor Speedway when his car flew over another on Lap 13 and smashed into the wall just outside turn 2. He was 33.

Wheldon's death returns safety issue to NASCAR forefront

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The death of Indianapolis 500 winner Dan Wheldon has sparked safety discussions throughout motorsports just as NASCAR heads to one of the fastest tracks on its circuit.
