Born in Lawrenceville, Georgia, Bill landed his first radio job at the age of 15 at WCLB in Camilla, GA. He then headed to California and was on the air at KICO, KAMP and KXO. He joined the Navy and served in Tokyo from 1960 - 1964. He was a photographer upon enlistment and worked on Project Mercury,

Thomas James (T.J.) Highfill, Sr., age 89, of Snellville, Georgia, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, October 8, 2011, after a short battle to cancer. He was preceded in death by his first wife of 36 years, Earmon Irene Highfill on January , 10, 1981; and his second wife of 29 years, Betty Britt Highfill on January 28, 2009; parents, Martha Rebecca Booth Highfill and Will Mont Highfill. He is survived by his four children; Thomas James (Tommy) Highfill, Jr. and his wife Denise of Loganville, GA, and their three children, Brian Highfill, Josh Highfill, and Christine Luttrell; Michael Mont (Mike) Highfill, Sr., and his wife Deborah of Snellville, GA, and their six children, Michael M. J. Clyde (Buddy) Hare, Winder GA, 73, passed away on Thursday, October 6, 2011. He was born in Ragland, Alabama and grew up in Gadsden, Alabama. He served in the Naval Reserves and the US Air Force and retired from MARTA in Atlanta, Georgia. Buddy was a wonderful and loving husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Kay Farley Hare, Winder, GA; son Tommy Hare, Decatur, GA; Daughter Teresa (Craig) Kelley. Dacula, GA; grandchildren: Thomas James Hare, Lilburn, GA; Nick Kelley and Amanda Kelley, Dacula, GA.
