ALPHARETTA — The sixth and seventh innings of Game 2 summed up South Gwinnett’s troubles Friday night.
Former South Gwinnett player Lance Uwaifo, who played the past two years at Atlanta Metropolitan College, signed this week to play basketball for Georgia College and State University.
South Gwinnett senior Tina Odume has accepted an offer to play basketball for Auburn University-Montgomery, which is coached by South grad Dan Davis.
Cory Miller, a 2006 South Gwinnett grad, has signed a professional contract with the Carolina Railhawks of the North American Soccer League. The Railhawks play locally against the Atlanta Silverbacks on June 25.
The bunt scored two runs, which proved to be the difference in a 7-2 South victory over Brookwood.
The South Gwinnett football program will host its 20th annual golf tournament April 18 at Summit Chase Country Club. Cost is $125 per player and hole sponsorships are $100.
The South Gwinnett football team held its Champions Dinner on Tuesday at First Baptist Snellville. The dinner recognized 81 players for their accomplishment of maintaining a 3.0 GPA or better during the fall semester. Former Atlanta Falcon Buddy Curry was the guest speaker.

South Gwinnett senior Jamie Suggs has accepted an offer to play college baseball for Augusta State. He is the son of Steven Suggs and Jennifer Hartmann.
South Gwinnett senior Justin Smith has accepted an offer to play football for Westminster College (Penn.). The Comets now have 11 senior players who will join college football programs this fall.
SNELLVILLE — South Gwinnett ended its regular season Friday night with a big win over Region 8-AAAAA rival Brookwood 67-63.
