The game-winning goal in an eventual 2-0 win for GAC in the Class AA state semifinals advanced the Spartans to the state championship game at home on Saturday night. GAC will play the winner of Cross Keys and Westminster.

ATLANTA — Greater Atlanta Christian’s Caroline Bond set the all-time mark in the girls pole vault on Saturday at the Region 6-AA track and field meet at Westminster.
While Greater Atlanta Christian awaits potential rematches with Blessed Trinity and Westminster, the Spartans will have to be satisfied with opponents who may not push them as much.
For now, Greater Atlanta Christian can celebrate a Region 6-AA championship, thanks to two goals from Denzel Clarke in a 3-2 overtime victory at Westminster on Tuesday.
Greater Atlanta Christian's girls soccer team was given its first loss of the season two weeks ago. To make it even worse, the Spartans had to wait this long to get that taste out of their mouth.
LILBURN — It was a game that was equal parts wild and equal parts ugly. With 18 combined errors and about as many hits, Greater Atlanta Christian held off Berkmar 16-13 Friday. Down five in the seventh, the Spartans (5-2) rallied to score seven runs. The Patriots (1-5) loaded the bases with two outs in the bottom of the seventh when Jesse Gordon missed a grand slam to end the game.
NORCROSS — When the Greater Atlanta Christian boys basketball team opened the game with a pair of 3-point baskets, one of the Jordan coaches confidently told the team, “They’re not going to do that all night.”
CALHOUN — Sierra Lawrence didn’t start Tuesday for GAC.
LYONS — After losing in the first round of the Class AA state duals, Greater Atlanta Christian battled back to finish third.
NORCROSS — It may not have been pretty, but in the end Greater Atlanta Christian accomplished what it set out to do — advance to the second round of the Class AA girls state basketball tournament, beating Union County 60-42.
Veteran Greater Atlanta Christian basketball coach Eddie Martin has four state championships and more than 600 wins on his resume, but he looked as if he had won his first game Saturday night as his team celebrated at midcourt after winning the Region 6-AA championship.
