Sgt. Alex Rodriguez of Combat Logistics Battalion 1, a battalion of the United States Marine Corps, presents the American flag draped over Cpl. Joseph Lowry Jr.’s casket to his parents, Joe and June Lowry, on Friday at the funeral service at Tim Stewart Funeral Home in Lawrenceville. Lowry passed away July 14 at the age of 25 after a three-year battle with cancer. He was on active duty in the USMC and was a lifelong resident of Lawrenceville. Lowry was a 2002 graduate of Dacula High School and a Master Mason in the Lawrenceville Lodge. Rodriguez was Lowry’s platoon sergeant when they were serving.
