Cancer hospital fires back in fight over legislation

House Bill 482 proposal would eliminate a requirement that 65 percent of the cancer hospital’s patients come from out of state – a provision enacted by the Legislature in 2008 when it allowed Cancer Treatment Centers of Ameirica to build a facility in Newnan.

Medical cannabis bill clears House panel

The revised House Bill 1, sponsored by state Rep. Allen Peake (R-Macon), would set up a process whereby patients with one of eight diagnoses, and a recommendation from a doctor, would register for cannabis oil use with the state Department of Public Health.
