PREP ROUNDUP: Zabowski has huge night in Collins Hill baseball win

SUWANEE — Sophomore Cole Zabowski drove in seven runs, including clubbing a grand slam home run, as Collins Hill defeated Duluth 13-3 in five innings of Region 7-AAAAAA baseball Thursday. Zabowski also drove in three runs when he hit a bases-clearing double.

Mitch McCain pitched all five innings, striking out six Wildcats to earn the win for the Eagles (5-10, 3-2). Monty Horn, Riley King and Austin Gonzalez each had two hits for Collins Hill.

BOYS BASEBALL

Brookwood 11,

Central Gwinnett 1

SNELLVILLE — Brookwood defeated Central Gwinnett 11-1 in five innings Thursday night.

Noah Albury picked up the win, tossing three innings and striking out five Black Knights. Mason LeBlanc and Justin Hohm each had two hits and drove in two runs. Mickey Creighton also had two hits for the Broncos (6-8, 3-2).

Norcross 11, Meadowcreek 1

NORCROSS — Brooks Buckler improved his record to 5-1 on the season has he pitched Norcross to an 11-1, five-inning win over Meadowcreek on Thursday.

Phillip Ganter and Trevor Craport each drove in two runs for the Blue Devils (9-6, 2-3).

Wesleyan 7,

Greater Atlanta Christian 3

NORCROSS — Wesleyan broke open a tight game with four runs in the fifth inning as the Wolves defeated GAC 7-3 on Thursday.

Christian Stark picked up the win in relief for the Wolves (6-6). Colin Hall had two hits and Grant Colton drove in two runs for Wesleyan.

Pinecrest Academy 9,

Providence Christian 3

LILBURN — Providence Christian dropped a 9-3 decision to Pinecrest Academy on Thursday.

Storm starting pitcher Jackson Winskie pitched three innings before leaving the game with an injury. Evan Porter had two hits and scored a run and drove in a run for Providence. Rett Perkins reached base three times, twice by walk and once by a hit for the Storm (7-6, 5-1).

Hebron Christian 15,

Lakeview Academy 7

GAINESVILLE — Robby Stephens had three hits and drove in four runs to lead Hebron Christian to a 15-67 win over Lakeview Academy on Thursday. Joey Ruiz added two hits for the Lions in the win.

BOYS LACROSSE

Collins Hill 10, Norcross 4

SUWANEE — Russell Gardner scored three goals and assisted on two others as Collins Hill defeated Norcross 10-4 Thursday night.

Chet Popeoka and Zach Cao each added two goals while Roman Tavani had four ground balls and Cody Lewis recorded seven saves in net to earn the win for the Eagles (6-6).

Fellowship Christian 0

NORCROSS — Greater Atlanta Christian defeated Fellowship Christian 12-0 Thursday night.

Brad Hodoval recorded 15 saves to earn the shutout for the Spartans (9-3, 6-0). Gunner Cape and Parker Stevens each had two goals for GAC.

Archer 15, Parkview 3

LAWRENCEVILLE — Nine different players scored goals as Archer defeated Parkview 15-3 Thursday night.

The Tigers improved their record to 7-5 with the win.

Collins Hill 23, Norcross 1

SUWANEE — Collins Hill defeated Norcross 23-1 on Thursday.

Emily Napierala led the Eagles (7-3, 2-0) with six goals. Kate Dougherty, Anna Britt and Abby Squires each scored three goals and Calli Star added two goals for Collins Hill.

Rachel Holmes scored the goal for Norcross and Meg Tuoat made 16 saves for the Blue Devils.

Peachtree Ridge 5

SUWANEE — Peachtree Ridge dropped a 15-5 decision to Johns Creek on Thursday.

Darby Frisbie and McKenzie Casal each had two goals while Izzy Ivory made 17 saves for the Lions (2-9).

Duluth 15, North Atlanta 5

ATLANTA — Emma Ford made 13 saves to lead Duluth to a 15-5 win over North Atlanta on Thursday.

Sam Gentry had four ground balls and three draw controls to lead the Wildcats. Jessica Seonane led Duluth with seven goals and Grace Andersen added three goals in the win.

DULUTH — North Gwinnett defeated Duluth 4-1 Thursday afternoon.

Lane Kunin, Izzy Balsavage and Emma Etelalahti won singles matches for the Bulldogs (11-4, 5-2). Lauren Layton and Amaila Cruz won a doubles match for North.

HOSCHTON — Mill Creek defeated West Forsyth 4-1 on Thursday.

R.J. Clement, Harrison Pruett and Sam Niebanck won singles matches for the Bulldogs (12-4, 5-2). Connor Dudacek and Carson Southard along with Ethan Gilenson and Colton Baker won doubles matches for North.

OAKWOOD — Dacula defeated West Hall 4-1 on Thursday.

LOGANVILLE — Parkview improved to 14-4 overall and 7-1 in the Region with a 5-0 sweep of Grayson on Thursday.

Auston Necher led the Storm with a 46. In the one-on-one girls matchup, Megan Lee was a winner for Providence Christian.

JOHNS CREEK — Alissa Yang fired a 39 to lead Wesleyan to a 87-95 win over Mt. Pisgah on Thursday.

DULUTH — Norcross defeated Collins Hill 139-156 in a match played at Berkeley Hills Country Club on Thursday.

Bailey Tardy led the Blue Devils with a 38 while Merritt Williams led the Eagles with a 48.
