SUGAR HILL — A Sugar Hill city council member was recently honored by the statewide Kiwanis organization.

Kiwanis International is a nonprofit aimed at “serving the children of the world” through various efforts. Sugar Hill Councilman Mike Sullivan was given the Georgia branch’s Leadership Award during the Division 8 Governor’s Rally last month.

Georgia Kiwanis Governor Katrina Baranko presented him with the honor.

Sullivan is involved with the local Key Club and Key Leader programs, both with focus on high school students, and is also the coordinator for the division’s maternal neonatal tetanus prevention efforts. He is the secretary for Kiwanis’ North Gwinnett club.

Sullivan was re-elected to the Sugar Hill city council in November and is currently serving his third term. He represents Post 5.
