Pollen count skyrockets earlier than normal

Allergy sufferers might have noticed spring-like symptoms arrive on Monday.

The warm weather that arrived this week with temperatures at 70 degrees and above also brought a pollen count of 944, the highest count on March 10 in five years, according to the Atlanta Asthma & Allergy Clinic.

Trees were in the high range, 90 and above, as elm, cedar and maple were the major contributors.

By comparison, the last four years pollen counts on March 10 were 41, 51, eight and 462.

It’s the third straight Monday that pollen counts were above 200.
