Snellville to celebrate Flag Day with ceremony

SNELLVILLE — Snellville will hold a Flag Day ceremony on Friday.

The festivities are set to begin at 10 a.m. According to a news release from the city, Snellville is the only city in Gwinnett to hold a ceremony on Flag Day.

The event will feature the Sons of the American Revolution firing muskets along with soldiers from each American war and conflict since World War II. State Sen. Gloria Butler is scheduled to talk about the history of the flag.

The Snellville Police Department Honor Guard will also be present.

“This is to celebrate our flag,” Mayor Kelly Kautz said. “It’s really to honor the flag and the values it stands for.”

The ceremony will take place on the Town Green in front of City Hall, 2342 Oak Road in Snellville.
